Soemone who monitors patterns in the odds, and in the way money flows into the mutuel pools, for each horse, in an attempt to determine which horse(s) is/are receiving betting support in a way that is not obvious to the general public (i.e., "smart money" or a betting coup).

I think all of us that grew up at tracks where there are small pools have learned to always check the place and show pools, because there is often some great value to be had.
