We only had one race in play Friday at Belmont with all our scratches in the other two and we hit with a nice $ 17.40 winner with SONIC SOUND in the 5th. Turf has been our friend lately and we should be able to get the grass tilts in before rain enters the picture later Saturday night. Check out our Preakness plays below as well.

BILL KELLEY PLAY FOR PREAKNESS STAKES- RACE 12 AT PIMLICO (Post Time 6:15pm EDT)

After the shocker at the Derby, handicappers have many storylines to ponder for the Preakness Stakes. Can the filly Rachel Alexandra topple the boys, can Mine That Bird repeat his amazing run two weeks later, can Friesan Fire come back from a terrible trip and loss as favorite. Can we ask for more intrigue for the second jewel of the Triple Crown. There is a good likelihood of moisture in the track as rain is supposed to move in by 3pm with a chance of thunderstorms a couple hours prior to the big race.

For the pace scenario we see race run like this:

Speed # 1 12

7 9 13

Mid-pack # 5 8

2 3 10 11

Closers # 4 6

Interesting facts:

13 is faster than anyone to the ¾

Only have passed a horse of any kind in stretch

2 (throw out my run in derby)

3 (4 times)

4 ( 2 times but throw out JBM)

5 (1 time at 7F)

6 (3 times long ago)

7 (never)

8 (3 times never won though)

9 (4 times with 2 wins)

10 ((3 times with 0 wins)

11( (one time 0 wins)

12 (1 time 0 wins)

13 (twice no wins)

PLAY : Think #9 PIONEEROFTHENILE is the one… at anything over 3/1 it is a play. Improving horse who adapted to the dirt and sloppy surface last out. Has been training well since the Derby. Bobby B. is all smiles this week. Sitting on a big race in his race cycle. Love the win bet on Pioneer at the above asking price. For exotics, include Friesan Fire, General Quarters, Papa Clem and Musket Man. Heed this: We throw out Mine That Bird and Rachel Alexandra and key Pioneerofthenile in all our wagers. Good luck!!!

JOE KELLEY'S BELMONT MAY 16TH PLAYS

RACE 2 (Grass Only)

Lots of advantages with our pick in this grass maiden claimer. # 8 NOAH'S ARCH drops from straight maidens to maiden claimers after two non-descript tries on dirt and synthetic. Kieran adds Ramon Dominguez for the ride and the turf breeding is impeccable on both sides. Only question is if the connections are giving up hope by dropping into maiden claimers with the great breeding. Thus, we will demand a price.

PLAY: Win bet on # 8 NOAH'S ARCH at 4/1 and higher.
____________

RACE 6 (Grass Only)

# 7 THANKHERBANKER tries the grass for the for the first time for Mark Hennig. The dam has proferred 1 turf winner out of two starts. When a horse comes off an extended layoff, we look for trainer success with the move or actual success from the horse with the same situation. Thankherbanker won in her debut. Another plus here is the ride from Jose Lezcano who wins at a nasty 18% on turf.

PLAY: Win bet on # 7 at 4/1 and up.
___________

RACE 10 (Grass Only)

George Weaver brings back # 1 THREE BRIDGE ROAD who has been off since December. He drops back into state MSW and gets Corny V for the ride. Should sit on the rail mid-pack and have plenty left in the tank in this suspect field.

PLAY: Win wager on # 1 at 4/1 and up.
