Kudos to Maria. Perhaps she's a democrat but at least with her questions and challenge of the pro-union guest, she has made a cogent case that there's more than just a casual relationship between the unions and the problems in the private and public sector that can be traced to their influences.

Maria has been one of the brighter stars of CNBC. This is just another example of old fashion journalism.

More power to her.

interesting facts in the article;
private sector unemployment is 9%.
public sector unemployment is 2.8% and employment numbers grow every month.

not suprisingly Obamas entire agenda is targeted to take care of the public sector and unions. the private sector not so much.

I'd guess if you were to tell BO he's eating his seed corn, he wouldn't understand what you meant.

Is she a Democrat? I'm surprised if thats the case. I always thought she leaned toward the Republican side.

Don't know one way or the other, but that's my guess.

in the video the union guy was stressing how productivity has soared.
how much of that was in union companies though? and how much was due to overall declining union membership?

is there any measure for productivity in the public sector?:lol:

Not surprising at all, given that he's no friend to Capitalism. But more than this: The more people he can employ in the public sector, the more people become state-dependent. And this is what socialism is all about. And these government-dependent folks will learn real quick that they either do it the party's way or they're without a job. In essence, they'll become nothing less than Brown Shirts -- just without the uniform is all.

He mentioned that he favored a progressive tax rate simular to the 70s - that would mean a top marginal tax rate of 70%. :eek:

in addition to progressive taxes he listed Norway as a model economic society.
I find this so hilarious. All these years the US has been the envy of the world. With relatively freemarket capitalism we went from nowhere to the worlds largest economy by far. People from all countries lined up to get in here for the opportunities.

Then the statists came around and started to roll out the great/entitlement society which like a cancer has ate away at our strong foundation. Now with Maobama we're in the final stages of surrendering to total collectivism with over half the population looking at the state with outstretched hands demanding justice, fairness, equality and happiness.

How far we've come indeed. Now we have union visionaries pointing towards Norway for the answers. what a joke.

I'm afraid one day when this whole thing comes crashing down, those of us who knew freedom should be the solution, not government, will have to look at the fools who put the looters in power and say:

BROTHER, YOU ASKED FOR IT!
