Might not get you guys to post your picks here;) But someone needs to start a thread for just that...I'll go first:p

I have 3 lists, as usual for these biggies...at least with the Derby, after we lost 3 tops colts, it came down to Pioneer & Freisan Fire for me...this one is a tough call because I'm  :)

3-Freisan Fire
4-MTB

1-Pioneer
2-RA
3-FF

Wishing everyone here best of luck with your bets...hope someone hits the BES/Preakness double, and hope the best horse wins and they are all safe & sound when it's done.

I really don't have a strong opinion. Rachel is best horse but coming in off 2 weeks rest and the 13 hole and all. To many questions for me to bet her, but Derby clarified nothing for me. Will use my Derby pick again.

If you had no other information and someone showed you an overhead shot of the Derby and said you can have the winner at 7-1 in the Preakness -- would you take it? I would, and I will. I know about the "perfect storm of variables that aligned to produce the flukish outcome" explanation, but I don't buy it. MTB freaked at the classic distance when ridden correctly and given the opportunity to show off his stamina and closing punch. I'll take a swing that he can do it again today as the pace may be very HOT. Smith just needs to ride him "like he's a good horse", in Borel's words, and he will.

I'll play closers at the finish while the others, including RA, back up after getting cooked. The Nile cannot be ignored.

If RA is truly a great one she can win of course. And watching her do so will be welcome consolation as I tear up my tickets. But taking a stand against her for so many reasons at an impossibly low price looks like the play. Much safer 8-5 shots can be had any day of the week.

Good luck all.

Friesan Fire has been the top 3yo since february. He wins if Rachel Alexandra isn't allowed an easy trip up front.

underneath you have the 3 amigos who dueled for 2nd in the derby and the filly

Friesan Fire and POTN over RA and Musket ManUpon further review, as they, I am reconsidering RA. I think she is up against it, and she is going to be too short a price for this value handicapper. So...

Friesan Fire and POTN over Musket Man and Papa Clem.

Hi from Atlantic City.

I will be letting RA out of all my picks. There is no money there. I'm going with keying on FF. From there I'm putting in Big Drama, Musket Man, Luv Gov, and a few other longer shots...and oh yeah for sure POTN.

I hope all of you have luck with your picks.

The filly has an outside post. She truly beat a weak field in the Oaks, and there is a reason they only ran her with the fillies...I have to bet against her, so probably at the end of the day I'll be broke. $5.00 on all the longshots, but I'm not betting MTB at all in anything.

Considering he doesn't even break the top 6 on CJ's pacefigs, why? Not disagreeing, just wondering how if you're using those figures?

Prior to the KD, he was on the improve. His numbers though not tops in any of the 3 categories, are solid; in other words he shows no weakness in early or late pace and his overall race #'s are good.

The best jockey is on the most consistent horse. POTN has to be my key. Can't throw MTB after that move even with Smith, and will take the another closer with a local jock and back class in Terrain.

Exacta box those 3, and then keyed with POTN. WP money on Terrain as an odds play.

Good luck

Rachel Alexander ran her best race in her last, was it the mud or is she just that good, three year olds don't necessarily bounce off big races like that, she could even improve especially if she backs off the pace a bit. If she does win I will tip my hat to her, but there will probably not be much value in betting her.

Big Drama looks like he's developing into a good one with a pattern I like -
big pace figure 2nd race back (the tops in the field) followed by a reversal in the last race with a late pace figure (also the tops in the field).

The only bet I am making here because this is a tough race to isolate anyone,
but I liked FF in the Derbey and he was never perservered with, so why not go right back. The middle two are long, but hoping they get there.

If you are doing this tri for $1 (?) why are you leaving out the 4-7-8 for 3rd? It will only cost $3 more. Hit the all button, hell anybody can run 3rd.

Hey Gang,

New to this board. Some great discussion here.

Can't remember a time when I have looked forward to a Preakness Stakes with so much intrigue and anticipation. Should be one heck of a race.

I wrote an article last week on the projected pace for the Preakness. I think we are in for a surprise. Within that article I offer my analysis of each horse entered as well. Would love to hear what your thoughts are about this race. For the article, go to the following link and select Preakness tab on the Play of the day. Article is titled Papa Clem On Top:

Best of luck to everyone!

Would have been $6 more, and on the same token, I could have bet FF instead to win. I played a ticket that made sense to me, and I put myself in a position to hit nice ticket. If one of those two can run 2nd, I don't expect the wheels to fall off in the 3rd spot. The only horse who scares me is Papa Clem, but I don't expect to see him anywhere in the stretch today. Good luck to all!

At the lowest level on a super, I will include Tone It Down or Lov Guv for super longs.

I'm going to put a few $$ on some longshots and sit back and enjoy...

To me, it looks like there is a lot of speed in this race...not going to help RA in my opinion...post isn't going to help RA...she'll be running against the best field she's ever seen....so....

I'm going to bet Terrain and General Quarters to win....I'm going to look for them to run down what I see to be a hot early pace....
