The Median "winning betting choice" of the ones you listed was 5th. That's also the mode.

The one race that probably has the absolute most information available to everyone, and the public's performance in betting it is just terrible. I have made my biggest killings on this race over the years ( not the last couple, though) by using dossage and Beyer numbers in graded stakes at at least a mile and a sixteenth.
Pace figures have actually worsened my performance. I don't want to know about workouts.
This weekend, if nothing else, I will consume far too many mint juleps and apologize now for anything I may post after after the race (hehehe - kidding, PA).

OK....I'll take Peace Rules to bring up the rear.
I'll hold off on the beaten lengths for now.

Jimmy:

Let me start off by saying that's a pretty nice list you've put together for us .. thanks for taking the time. I do think there were a couple of years that the favorite was a coupled entry .. like I believe Excellent Meeting in 1999 was part of an entry for Baffert, and I believe in 1984 Life's Magic was part of an entry from Lukas. And I think in 1995 Timber Country was also part of a Lukas-trained entry. I'll see if I can do some research on this.

How 'bout Domestic Dispute, going from Baffert to Gallagher's barn is probably pretty depressing. Like moving from Beverly Hills to Cleveland. Probably took his sun glasses away.

I dont believe thats the case with any of the above. I remember
cause I bet the other half of the UnCoupled entry. It may be in 84
but the Baffert/Lukas colts were UNCOUPLED to my knowledge.

In 1999 filly Excellent Meeting was coupled with General Challenge

In 1995 Timber Country was coupled with filly Serena's Song

In 1984 filly Life's Magic was coupled with filly Althea

The following link is pretty interesting, and in it you will see notations for the couplings I have given above.

My time ran out on editing ... so just to add to my previous post ..

WINMANWIN .. to clarify .. Lukas did start winner Thunder Gulch in 1995, who was not part of the Timber Country-Serena's Song coupling. In 1999, Baffert's Prime Timber was not part of the Excellent Meeting-General Challenge coupling.

Oh, and one more thing .. Easy Goer-Awe Inspiring were coupled in 1989 .. Marfa-Balboa Native in 1983 .. Proud Appeal-Golden Derby in 1981
