The long line of cars heading into Wilmington on Saturday morning from Pennsylvania and Jersey to shop at Delaware's no-sales-tax venues will be joined by sports bettors wanting to get down on the weekend's games. The Gov (a proponent) is expected to sign this quickly.

In a few years every state that has a casino will probably have something like this.

Not so, unless Jersey is successful in getting the federal legislation overturned that bans sports betting except for those states that had legalized it prior to the federal ban. Delaware being one of those states.

The government wants that money that is going offshore. My guess is NJ will be successful in getting it overturned. There is just to much money involved.

Passed and signed

but

" But sports betting could face a legal challenge by professional sports leagues."

Delaware is one of only four states, along with Nevada, Montana and Oregon, grandfathered under a 1992 federal law that bans sports gambling.

Where would professional sports leagues be without betting? Same damn place that horse racing would be. There won't be a legal challenge. There will be a lot of lip service. The NCAA will get involved and not sanction any bowl games, etc. to be held in Delaware but then they will be asked why there is a post season bowl game in Nevada. All the hypocrisy will come bubbling to the top briefly and then go away.

NFL says State Lottery-Gambling tie-in is OK. Just don't bet on our games-even if it's legal. How much hypocrisy can you stand?

in Delaware will they have real wagering
like in Nevada or that "parlay" type nonsense
that went on in the pacific northwest.

I may have to move back east to help the casinos
out as there will not be to many individuals to help
out and no casino should use that weasle Bob Scucci.

There is no bigger hypocritcal organization than the NFL. Take away betting and fantasy football, which is a form of gambling, and how popular would it be? The viewing audience would be a fraction of what it is now.

The only details that I've seen is that the sports betting will only occur where they have gambling now. What form it will take, I don't know.
