Questions for Vic and some of the other esteemed members of the race callers community who occasionally post on this message board.
Tom Durkin was slammed pretty good by most people here for failing to pick up Mine That Bird until he was three lengths in front. Tom obviously had his eyes on the three outside horses during the time Mine That Bird squirted through along the rail.
My question is, do you use the binoculars throughout the entire race? Is there any point during the race where you might put down the binocs and use the naked eye?
Of course, everyone has their own style, is there any general rule of thumb?
I know this is probably old news already, just for my own personal curiousity and perhaps to educate race fans on how you call the race.
