With the expectation of a sloppy track, and the late scratch of IWantRevenge, the race is up for grabs for all the improving horses. We think we may see some bombs light up the board.
Summer Bird (#17 ML 50/1), who was flying at the end of the Arkansas Derby, will benefit from the extra furlong and the wet surface.
West Side Bernie (#1 ML 30/1), should be strongly considered and cannot be dismissed at long odds after finishing 2nd behind IWantRevenge in the Wood Memorial.
Dunkirk (#15 ML 4/1) seems to be a very talented colt and may still need some more seasoning. However, he still has a shot to hit the board (and could possibly win the race).
Three others should be considered:
Friesan Fire (#6 ML 5/1) ran and hid on a sloppy track in the La Derby.
Musket Man (#2 ML 20/1) is almost perfect in 6 starts.
General Quarters (#12 ML 20/1), who was our top pick in the Bluegrass at 14-1, and didn't disappoint.
