Seem to be dropping like flies......Had a line in his ankle during an x-ray this morning, and the trainer said the horse is more important then a race. Also said this line "may or may not be problem". I guess if he out then Flat Out is in ??????

Gosh, am I just paying more attention this year, or is the number of drop outs unusually high?

I was thinking the same thing Shelby...I don't remember in recent memory all the late drop outs due to injury or precaution. I quess the truth is the thoroughbreds are not as durable as the old days.

Like all other aspects of sport and life in general, medical technology has improved significantly and these minor injuries simply do not go undetected.

Imagine all the horses in the past who possibly, if not probably, ran in this race unfit.

Ditto. I didn't think about that aspect of it.

Giant Ryan ran 7th in the Gotham with $76 in graded earning and is now in 20th place and prepping for the derby for Bisnath Parboo at Aqueduct.

So what's the story with the field and how they fill it? Do they just keep filling open slots so that 20 horses will be in the gate on Sat? Obviously there must be a cut off pt. WHen is that? Will I see Zito's horse on Sat?

The field is set. Any more scratches and there will be less than 20 starters.

Yep, you'll see Zito's horse, particularly if you are watching the back of the field as they come down the stretch.
