If you aren't able to attend the Kentucky Derby in person, where would you go to watch it? Do tracks around the country tune in for that? We'd like to find somewhere fun.

I would say that every track in america will have the race on. I have found it diffficult to watch at the track because of the large crowds and noise. A sports bar for me is the best with friends or 2nd choice is home.

Actually, best time was in Las vegas at the Stratosphere sports book but maybe next year.

Las Vegas is tops if you can get there.

How was Remington Park last weekend? We are going to Fonner Park (only about 4 1/2 hours) Derby weekend. It is also their last weekend of live racing and getting tables is usually not a problem. Hotels are cheap and the Derby will be tuned in on every TV in the joint and of course you can bet on it:) Or set yourself up a Twinspires account and you should be able to fund it in time for the Derby and bet from home.

If for some reason you guys decide to head to Fonner let me know so we don't miss you this time. Will be much easier than Arkansas Derby day at Oaklawn.

I learn something new everytime I'm here! I've never heard of Fonner Park ( I just googled to learn). Definitely a great option.

Remington was ok. It sure is a nice track! The races were just so short and hard to pick. Plus, I'm not a late night person, so night races were hard for me lol. And, I picked a rotten hotel lol, so that topped it off.

I was just checking hotels in Grand Island for May 1st (we usually drive back Saturday night) and there are plenty. The Holiday Inn near the track is available for $95. There are others nearby with the Super 8 being the least expensive at about $60.

Hey Bet---are you Omaha based? I'll be at Horseman's this weekend for their pre-qualifier for the NTRA tourney at the end of May.

No I am not but a good racing friend is out of Omaha. He actually has called some races so if you are familiar with the Omaha scene you might know him.

We're going to watch it this year at a Tiki bar in Hilton Head. That way, no matter who wins, I'll still be happy.. I still believe in IWR or QR winning, but Dunkirk's name keeps popping up in front of me for no apparent reason. I don't love him, but things happen for a reason some times.

3 years ago I was in Cabo during the Derby. It was a 10 day trip won through our business and it never dawned on me it overlapped with the KY Derby. Not to worry there is a full sports book in Cabo San Lucas and EVERY sports bar had the whole show. I was amazed at the response in Mexico!!

I would almost find it hard to beat the atmosphere even in Vegas.

Wonder if I could talk hubby into Cabo?

Thanks so much everyone for your responses--I love hearing all of your plans and ideas. I'd love to go to Vegas. I haven't been there for at least ten years. I read online that the Wynn has a great sportsbook.

Yes I find it hard to see everything at OTB, we have a harness racing track 10 mins away with OTB so we will go and make our bets and go back home to watch the derby. Will be able to see it alot better, the only downside to this is I might see at horse in the post parade and of course won't be able to bet it.

We tailgate and bet the undercard at River Downs, then leave about an hr before the Derby to watch and resume drinking at a buddies house.
