Boy, there seems to be a horse racing fan at the NY Times , yet another story on our favorite sport. They have a Hungarian Seabiscuit in their sites which is bringing people to the track in Budapest. No , you can't make this stuff up. Just a nice rags to riches story taking place at Kincsem Park. OVERDOSE, bought at auction for $35oo. is 12 of 12 now and is bringing Hungarians together

I do too, Hadn't thought of it. The french race which he scratched out of is one of the best turf sprints in europe.

Yes, we've been following him for a while now in certain forums in Europe even since he's been, shall we say, "embarrassing" his competition in his homeland:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/11q6Y1tbrO4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/11q6Y1tbrO4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

and next door:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VHJTt09T8tY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VHJTt09T8tY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

then in Austria:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/X5CIOeAxbdk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/X5CIOeAxbdk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

then back to Hungary for another demolition of the locals (all of these so far have smashed track records):

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CXu1TfaiUHs&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CXu1TfaiUHs&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

off to Austria again for the Central European 2yo championship race (by this stage most had cottoned on that he couldn't be beaten):

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fXrV9tvOheA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fXrV9tvOheA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

returned as a 3yo and (as the only 3yo) against older sprinters:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uoL7kKDvXTU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uoL7kKDvXTU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

now for a decent race, a Listed event (just below Grd 3) in Germany against non-plodder German horses:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3QkJemxBOEA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3QkJemxBOEA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Skipping another 8L easy win in Slovakia and a less impressive win but in a G3 in Germany, he arrived for Europe's championship sprint race only for diaster to happen and the race to be voided. Here's a synched comparison of his "win" in the voided race against the re-run winner Marchard D'Or (champion sprinter) in which he was withdrawn:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/f2doCAS1Kvk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/f2doCAS1Kvk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

and finally they took him to Rome for a 3yo send-off, whereby he proceeded to win by 10L:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5nE9qbUwO2o&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5nE9qbUwO2o&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

if the breeders cup wants to consider itself to be a "world championship" they need to get horses like this here. it's horses lke this that showcase races like the turf sprint.

thanks for the videos robin. Interesting that they voided the french race for 1 nonstarter. In the US, bets would be refunded on the horse, but the race would stand and the prices paid on the horses who ran in the race as run.
Interesting that of all the races only 2 were G3 and one G1 . The BC turf sprint at Santa Anita this year is run @ 6 1/2 F on a turf course that starts on a hill , then crosses the dirt course on a turn for home. Will he go 61/2 F ? I did note one dirt race as a 3yo where he rated in 2nd off the speed on the rail so that is encouraging too.
