Are there any "experts" on here playing the A&B races from Down Under? I'd like the lowdown on the level of the tracks there if anybody knows. Thanks, mate!

Don't play Australia but I believe that next to each track name there will be a m, p or c. C = country, meaning bush tracks ala Arapahoe, Northlands, etc. P = provincial, meaning mid-level ala LS, EmD, etc. M = metropolitan, meaning top class ala Bel, SA, etc.

I play a little bit.

look for a bias at either A or B
class drops even more important than USA
late money to one of two or three favorites generally sharp

Check out http://www.australianracing.com/ and look at the Info tab for lots of useful information. The track abbreviations link lists all the tracks. There are lots of tracks.

There are three levels of tracks - Metropolitan, Provincial and Country. The highest-level tracks, the Metropolitans, run on Tuesday and Friday night (our time). The other days are divided between the Provincials and Countries, although the schedule does vary a bit.

The Metropolitan tracks include Flemington, Moonee Valley, Caulfield and Sandown in Melbourne, and Randwick, Rosehill and Canterbury in Sydney, plus some others in the other provinces. From about September to April, the Friday-night A&B tracks include one from Melbourne and one from Sydney.

What grade is the Taree track, and does this course usually favor speed?

thanks. can you post the link to that current thread? i'm taking a long look at this Success Express filly in the 3rd at Taree (aussie A) and i'm wondering who's the actual jockey?

I don't know how anyone can make money on the thoroughbred races from Australia. Have you ever seen the skimpy, past performance programs that outfits like the much-maligned HPI provide for members? A couple of difficulties using these kind of programs, are that there are no beaten lengths listed, and many races contain between 14 and 16 horses. It's tough enough trying to get a winner in Canadian or American races with some fields of 10 to 12 horses. And that's even with proper past performance programs with the beaten lengths and a lot of other data that's available.

If anyone's making money long-term on the Australian races, I congratulate you.

I used to play Australia a little bit, but the emphasis is on Play.

I often watch when they post the Australian odds, and check for good deals in the Canadian pools.

Cashed some decent tickets over the years.
