vegas has 800/100 against any horse winning triple crown this year.

seems to me, with so many different, talented 3 y o's coming from all over, that may be reasonable.

any opinions ?

Im shocked its that low. I thought it'd be more like $2000 to make $100. I think thats a great bet to go against it.

8-1 against is just so insane. That means if you bet for a horse to win it they are probably giving you just 5-1 odds.. Which is ridiculous

Vegas probably went back to the beginning; I say about 30-0 by now!

As kenwoodallpromos mentioned, 8-1 would just be a simple calculation rounding to the nearest odds based on historical expectations.

There have been 11 TC winners and by my calculations this is the 90th running of the TC ... so the TC has been completed roughly 12% of the time. That makes it 8.33 /1.

if you look at it objectively, you don't have to pick the winner of the kentucky derby. the winner of the derby is going to be favored in the preakness most of the time. often under 2-1. in case that horse wins preakness, the odds to win belmont is usually under even money for that horse. true odds to win the triple crown would be to take the years that there has been a triple crown and divide it by the number of horses that have accomplished that feat.

on paper this looks like a very competitive group of 3 yo's. i don't know if that means that if a horse gets his head handed to him in kentucky will turn the tables in his next 2 races.
