Today, in the second at Keeneland, a starter allowance (16,000), on TVG Simon said the 2 fit the condition perfectly since his last race was the race that qualified him for the conditon (and the only one is his last 10 races).

I have always gone the other way and said the further I went back in the history without finding a qualifying race, the better (running at higher class now).

Any thoughts on what is a "fit" for a starter allowance condition?

(REDBOARD: I had the 2, but for other reasons).

The perfect fit is a horse that ran for the exact tag as long ago as possible.

For example, the perfect fit for horses "Which have started for $10,000 or less since January 1, 2008" would be somebody who ran for $10,000 on Jan 2, 2008. A less perfect fit would be someone who ran for a tag of $7,500 six months ago. The least perfect fit would be a runner that started for $3200 last week.

I dont think it matters when the horse started for that particular tag. What matters is the horse is eligible and hes on top of his/her game, now thats a perfect fit.

Maybe for a weekend to visit my cousin but not to work the season.

I will not be Arapahoe's racing secretary this year -- I am headed to the Eastern time zone

i agree with stu...but if the horse has been running above the 10k threshhold i would not bet him unless he is being competitive......if he has beaten 15 k in the recent past and his qualifying race was almost at the deadline to qualify ...that to me would be a perfect fit...if said horse has never beaten 10k claimers i do not care when he qualified i would not bet him
