Boy, this sounds like an exciting one!
Buena Vista just won the first leg of the Japan for 3-year-old fillies Triple Crown. She was 2 for 3 in 2008, and 2 for 2 in 2009. Or maybe undefeated? Not sure.
Now, get this: she ran against a field of 18.
She was 17th turning for home.....................and then.................. sensational late burst..........she WON!
Apparently, 72,000 spectators let out a GASP as she blew by the entire field running on the far outside . (nice to know they get fans in these numbers)
Her time for the last three furlongs in the race was 33.3 seconds. (1,600 meters race in 1:34 flat).
She is moving on the Japan Oaks.
