David Grenning has reported Quality Road sustained a quarter crack during the running of the Florida Derby. The crack has been patched and a bar shoe has been afixed .How long the horse will be out of training has yet to be determined. Jimmy Jerkins will do what is best for the horse and this may not include a run for the roses.

:( I would be willing to lay a bet that Jerkin's won't run him...over at the general Discussion section, someone posted that QR was on track th other day and it bled.

Thanks for the update, rjorio:ThmbUp:

philcski....go over to the General Discussion section...there's huge thread going on about Mullins (trains IWR) over there...you might find it very interesting.

Quality Road supposively galloped this morning and his foot seemed much better. I doubt he'll miss the 1st saturday in May.

That's good news. If QR was trained by most anyone else, I'd secretly be wanting him to skip the 1st Sat in May...but being a Jerken's horse, I do want to see him in the gate. And I hope Allen will be at Churchill:ThmbUp:

Quality Road is back on track for his run for the Roses, worked 5F breezing on the Belmont training track in 1:02.19 today.

How about that...excellent news. I am so happy for Jerkin's. He's not my Derby horse, right now my 3rd choice behind Larry Jones two colts...he may move up on my list, but Freisan Fire is still my top pick.

Do we get to see a repeat of the Big Brown Belmont?
Maybe horse with Q cracks just just not be allowed to run, patch or no.
BB should be a good reason.

Do we look out for the bettors or the horsemen?

Remember Touch Of Gold won the Belmont with a patch. Jerkens will not run the horse unless he is 100%. This is Jerkens not Dutrow, enough said.

I was just gonna post the same thing...except I was not going to mention Dutrow...
can't really compare this quarter crack with BB's anyway...BB pretty much had no foot...and, we can never be certain it had anything to do with the Belmont fiasco.

QR couldn't be in better hands...if he runs the 1st Sat. in May...he'll be 100%

Yes it is hard to assess a horse running with quarter cracks. Usually it was a complete throw out and than BB did it with the crack. I am still very leery about it especially in the derby with such a large field. Unbridled's Song ran with a quarter crack and bar shoe thanks to Paragallo (and you know who he is now)
