Does it use snow tires or chains?

Does it come with any air conditioning?

Where do I put my bumper stickers?

I just saw a view from the other side (of the vehicle that is) and there is a passenger seat. Hard to believe ! Oh, well guess that answers my original question.

In all honesty and not to be a wise-ass, it looks like a motorized wheelchair with some safety features for riding in traffic.

Reminds me of the classic line from a Seinfeld episode when George and Kramer were shopping for a wheelchair to replace one they had damaged; as the boys were looking at the deluxe model, the salesman remarked;

"almost makes you wish you were handicapped"

I got the first verse....some help me out here......sung to the tune of Camp Grenada.......

"Hello Puma, Goodbye Humma

You got sacked by, Barack Obuma.

We pour money, down your gas-hole,

The Messiah wants us driving ‘round on Rascals."

Room for your ass and a gallon of gas!
Who designed this anyway?
George Lucas? :D

Rush was talking about this thing this morn. It's supposed to have a system that keeps it from hitting a car or pedestrian. But as rush posed: What's to keep a car or truck from hitting this thing?
My thought: Maybe it should be called a casket on wheels...
The ironic thing is: The biggest selling vehicle in Iraq is the Hummer and now they're foisting this crap on us.
Maybe Iraq should now liberate us!

I guess since they are lousy at making cars, GM is going to see if they can be a toy company.

Perhaps Obama wants GM to buy the rights cheap and then start making Yugos again. That way, after they break down shortly after being sold, gas consumption will decline and his administration can take credit for helping solve the energy shortage.

when its viewed from the front coming at you, it kinda resembles a runaway garbage can.

Now I get it! Segway makes this, and watching the video, it is more like an advanced form of a Segway, I'll call it, if it hasn't already been a 'Segway With A Seat."

You're right, from the front, it does look like a modern garbage can/plastic collection bin.

Not all that bad if they'll permit you to use the sidewalks and bike paths. City Streets with real cars and trucks, yeah, then it is a motorized coffin.

Drive It Home - Thank God I made it
It cramped up bad my knees
I had no room to sneeze
It took me one, whole, day

When I first saw it, it reminded me a little bit about a vehicle South Park's Mr. Garrison invented - I didn't remember what they called it, turns out he called it "IT", and I found a decription of the episode and the vehicle. The bottom paragraph deals with the vehicle, and has a picture of a fictionalized Jon Travolta riding and endorsing it!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Entity_(South_Park)

This new vehicle is likely a lot more comfortable that 'IT', so silly as it may look, I'll settle for the Segway P.U.M.A over Mr. Garrison's 'IT', any day!

I found a link that plays the cartoon part where Mr. Marsh asks a very important question about it:

That thing is smaller than the typical Rush Limbaugh appetizer. Why is it that people who don't like Rush or agree with him are the most obsessed with him?

I never listen to the guy personally, but I bet you a lot of the left-leaning folks on off-topic think I'm one of his biggest fans...

Then you take a guy like Bubba...he obviously can't get enough of Rush...

bubba, why is it guys like you never argue substantive issues concerning Rush, but just refer to his weight. Kinda says you got no game, eh what?

I think that the vehicle is an interesting engineering achievement. Impractical for most roads now, but there should be some markets where it should fit.
The Segway, when first introduced did not live up to it's hype, but eventually caught on. Won't save GM tho'

On second thought, forget it. I can't expect something from you you obviously don't have.

Segway caught on?
Where?

Never seen one.

"Segway has, however, cultivated a few commercial niches to keep Kamen's company and his dreams whole. It has introduced off-road, police and golf models of its transporter, and thanks largely to its lobbying, 44 states now allow the PTs on pavements. Segway just entered the Chinese market, and its global sales are growing rapidly, especially in Europe. Foreign sales could account for half of all revenues next year, up from roughly 15% a couple of years ago."

Also.....

Shopping malls
Parks
police departments

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,197670,00.html

My take is that although it never became what the inventors wanted, it is an interesting engineering concept. Balancing the weight of the vehicle by active sensors and controls allows all sorts of advantages.

i work for a key supplier for some of the segway components, starting from even before the commericial launch. its incredible the amount of hype they put behind it, they were sure it was going to revolutionize the world. the production numbers they planned for were huge. we sold a boatload of equipment to people that were tooling up for this revolution. they ended up taking a bath and were lucky to survive.

this Puma has the same issues, its just not practical. i don't think anyone is really taking this seriously. its all for show imo. to his credit the guy does have some awesome mechanical design acheivements, but he is such a hype machine.

Funny how the title of the thread mentions the Hummer in the same sentence as the Puma. IMO, the Hummer was the ugliest vehicle on the face of the earth......until the Puma, that is.
