I wanted to spend over $100 on this since we're trying to grow the pool, but I really couldn't find any other horses that I liked. So, I just have each option multiple times.

I know it is not the pick 3, it was race one. But I must say I have never heard a horse name like Lil Diablos Jamijo. I almost bet the horse because of that.

Then again I once claimed a harness horse called HJY Honker Two. I sounded weird cheering "cmon Honker" when he raced.

Ok, back to the pick 3!

Keeping in mind that we are investing at Tampa Bay Downs, value must be sought out at every corner, therefore my $48 Pik3 ticket will reflect that perspective.

RACE 6 :5::7::8::9:15-1, 5/2, 9/2, 15-1

RACE 7 :2::8::9::10:5/2, 15-1, 12-1, 20-1

RACE 8 :4::7::8:5-1, 6-1, 15-1

Here is hoping for a strong outside bias on both courses, with some overlooked contenders.

I bet seven and broke the cardinal rule of horseplaying - looking behind for the exotics 100 yards from the wire.

That's a real downer for folks. Someone might be able to cash a huge ticket tho.

I have seen some tickets sent via email, and no one had the three. No one here has it, and a larger player called me just now. He spent a few hundred and went all in leg two, all in leg three, and did not go all in leg one!

Cangamble

I used 2,5,8,9 in the first part. I took a triactor box 3,5,8,9. Wound up shooting blanks.

Possible 2 out of three today, though unlikely. I don't see many 3's selected in the first leg.

All all all would have cost 9*10*7 or $630 bucks.

The friend who played the large tickets that I mentioned hit the eight horse in the last and scooped a few bucks. Fairly logical overlay (in hindsight). I of course did not hit that. I am excellent at picking losers. It's an art.

Hey, its always enjoyable to take a dip in the pool, and I wouldn't mind taking a few laps now and then..... if they'd only drop the take down from Shylock status.....

Are the Pik4 pools at Keeneland still at 17%? I can live with that, now that I'm out of retirement.....

I've always treated the pools listed on Youbet as gross pools, but it appears as if they are net. Both listings of the Pik3 pool today on Youbet were $22,007.

Wow, this impacts my pool analysis in a big way.

Red I am curious though about the taxes up there, do you walk away with all your winnings, or does the taxes keep 1/2 of it???, Or almost halve of it??

But still $1,000.00 less is still a lot, but the taxes on a $14,000.00, must be more than a 1,000.00.

I am just curious now, thanks.

I certainly have. There are other Canadian PAers that I happen to know are very profitable who may be able to give you a definitive answer but I know there are no tax withholdings either at the track, casino or at HPI.

Any exotic payout over $5K in the United States is subject to an automatic, mandatory Federal Tax withholding of 25%, which means you will receive 75% of your payout either in cash or in your ADW account.

In Canada gambling is not taxed. You can hit a pick 6 at Santa Anita that pays a quarter of a million, and the government won't bother you at all for any of it.
Of course, our taxes are much higher than in America for almost everything else.

No one cashed the ticket in Canadian dollars, that is for sure. If they had, the price paid in the US would have been different because of the difference between the Canadian and US dollar.
Lets say there was exactly 20,000 after take out, and also assume that Woodbine used the same takeout as the host track, and also, lets assume that the Canadian dollar is trading at 80 cents.
If one person hit the pool from the US, the payoff would be 20,000. However if the winner won by betting Canadian dollars, the payoff would show 25,000. That is because the Canadian would be paid in Canadian dollars, and the payoff would really just reflect a Canadian bet.
Now for the fun part. If the pool was split by a Canadian dollar bettor and a US dollar customer, the payoff would be approximately $11110 approximately. This is due to the fact that the payoff would have to be the same for the Americans and Canadians. But the Canadian gets paid in Canadian dollars. So the Canadian only winds up with approximately $8888 US for his or her split of the pool.

Red Knave

and also assume that Woodbine used the same takeout as the host trackThis is what I was referring to in my response to Hajck. In this instance it was higher.

I know no one here won it, it seems like HANA players took it all. :)
