The Pamplemouse or Pioneer of the Nile

Pioneer of the Nile for me.

Pamplemousse will have to adapt to not having easy lead with the presence of the sprinter #2 ZDay drawn inside as well as a couple of other mid race pressers.

I am looking at the #9 Gallant Son to run a good one at 15/1 ml. Came home nicely in a 23 fr3 last race on lawn. Picks up the services of Mr. Bejarano:ThmbUp:. Live long shot

I'm taking Chocolate Candy as an upset special, Two confidence builders up North by Hollendorfer and a nice workout pattern since Feb. 14th last start.

You never know with these 3 year olds...

PIONEER OF THE NILE, but I doubt he will offer playable odds. I will take 5-2.

I'm watching HRTV...anmd as soon as trhey mentioned the scratch...I headed here to find out why...vet scratch...I assume that it was the usual morning vet visit at the barn...geeze, this really sucks:mad: :(
I do hope it's something really minor and he still gets to the Derby...crap,crap,crap!!!

This is all I could fine...from DRF:

"The Pamplemousse, the morning-line favorite in Saturday's Santa Anita Derby, was scratched the morning of the race by the track veterinarian, Dr. Jill Bailey."

Maybe the horse kicked himself at the barn, maybe spiked a fever...geeze, wish we knew the reason:confused:

Well, my recordings on going and I gotta go outside for a while...hope I don't miss some updated news...

they're talking "tendon" and that's not good. alex solis jr., owner, said tomorrow will tell the tale as far as prognosis.

if it is a tendon he'll be done for quite a while.

Yep...just read the headline...how on earth did the colt hurt a tendon between yesterday and this morning? Geeze, I feel really bad for his connections...Cannani & the Solis'...what a crushing blow this has to be...damnit!
Even if it's a very minor tendon injury, it'd take a miracle for him to make the gate on May 2nd.
I especially feel bad for Cannani...he's waited 30 years to bring a good one to the Derby...

Guess everyone needs to change their picks:
1-Pioneer
2-Mr. Hot Stuff
3-Chocolate Candy

Juan....you might be riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight:)

Here's the story on the Pamplemousse:

http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/50039/the-pamplemousse-scratched-from-sa-derby

It sounds like this isn't much of an injury...in fact, slight enough that Cannani didn't even notice it before the vet pointed it out. Tomorrow will tell the tale...but for now, they are pointing to the Blue Grass...if the colt is sound.

i dont know im still liking MR HOT STUFF.

nakatani took the frkn worst route possible. takes the inside on the back stretch. he has to know that half the field is gonna back up into him.also at the top of the stretch he dives MR HOT STUFF to the inside which keeps him on his left lead.

think MR HOT STUFF is still learning.

Could CHOCOLATE CANDY have gone any wider?

I'm liking how the Derby is setting up.

dont like the way he just completely slowed down after the wire. looked like that race took alot out of him. his head just dropped and he was veering out instead of cruising along the rail like the #4 and #5.

really nice looking horse though.
