My question is this, what would you do with these races?

Win? Place? Show? Across the board? Daily Doubles? All Of the above? Amount?

How can I maximiz my profits at THIS card, daily

Just need some input if you Will!!!

I can admit, my betting is my downfall right now, which is my next step in the whole handicappin process.

I have gone through the same thing and a light turned on with me when someone described value to me.....it had always bugged and confused me when people would say "I like the 8 to 5 shot but cant bet him because there is no value"....I always thought that if you picked the best horse regardless of the odds that was the smart play, right? Im not going to bore you or others with the details, but I would just maybe read one of Steven Crists books or another handicapper's books and what they have to say on getting value and it will really help-----goodd luck!

Well, If I played them all to win, I made $19

What about a progressive place bet?

I'd have to go thru and check the place amounts on the winin horses.

I did this all paper betting,

I no doubt understand the value.. I guess in reality, I wouldnt bet live if odds were at least, what, 5/1, 6/1 maybe?

But, I would say its safe to say I can play and watch PT Odds, and be confident that I have a good chance to with my choices..

Just wanted some input ways to maximix my playing at this track.

This Aqu meet from Jan 1 to present.

The period you showed (Mar 18 to Mar 29) is not truly representative of what will happen in the future.

In the 83 races during the period you stated there were 40 winning favs (48%) at average odds of $1.10 and 16 winning second bet choices for a total of the 2 of 67%.

The previous 84 races (Mar 5 to Mar 17) had 38 winning favs (45%) and an average odds of $1.30, and 17 winning 2nd bet choices for a total of the 2 of 65%

But from Jan 1 to Mar 4th, 378 races there were 138 winning fav (37%) at average odds of $1.35 and 83 winning 2nd bet choices for a total of 56%

So drawing a plan of attack using the period you stated would not hold up in the future.

The question you should answer yourself is What type of bet fits your comfort level. Different bet types require different amounts of money bet per race and a different waiting time btwn wins. Generally the higher the winning %, the lower the return. So it's a fine mix. It all comes down to $ and comfort level.

Congrats on the impressive strike rate and good for you for saving your data - you need it to see what's working for you. While some will say you can't make money with low price horses, you can if your strike% is high enough. You have to look at the whole picture which includes both price and strike% to get R.O.I. Getting more data and a larger sample would help too.

Your next step would be to see wich trype of betting, or combination, gives you your best R.O.I. Try throwing in some Exacta data too.

However, even R.O.I. isn't the whole bottom line. It depends on your goals and personality too. A higher win % means you will win more often and have fewer and shorter lossing streaks. Higher pay-offs are good too but you will cash less often and have to suffer through longer losing streaks. It all comes down to what you prefer. That's the beauty of this game, you can suite your stategy to your own style.

Awesome thread--there is a lot of fighting on the board(I have been caught up in some too but quickly retired) and it is cool to see this kind of thread that is so helpful.

I finally started making some money when I did two things: Started skipping races I didnt like(I still handicapped and made picks but didnt bet) and focused on one track only.....hard to do since I am inclined to bet 20 but it really helped me stay focused...

I have decided to eliminate from wagering any race which contains a 1st time starter.

Too many races where the only 1st timer wins or ruins (for me) the exotics.
My selections for PPark today show picks in races w/ 1st timers, but they will not be wagered on.

Hey guys, I appriciat your help on this.

It took me about 13 years to be able to pik these horses. I have went to the OTB a few times, never lost money. My last outing, I pulled in $98 on 4 races, just waiting on nice overlays, on horses I thought had a great chance, and betting to place @ $15 a pop, didnt do to bad.. Just really test runs I guess.

Not going to lie, if I dont go in with set picks, I drown.. So, my plan was to always have a PLAN.. If you cant even break a race down, and at least be close EVERY TIME, then you shouldnt even be there to give away cash, JMO.. SO, I always concentrated on First, finding the winners. Each day, I paper bet races, and Im hitting 63% over the course of 75ish races daily, ( when applicatable)..

What I want from it? Profit, nice , steady profit.. I really would like to make about $300 a week, but grow to much more then that.. Yes, a career if you will..

I play DD's and pick 3's mostly with win bets on horses 6-7/1 or higher.

I just posted Beulah Park and only picked 1 per race so here I'll be win betting as all except the #4 in race 6 are above 4-1 ML.
I'll do pick 3's and DD's as allowed by the betting format here.

I use my son's figures and they have done me well.

I do not bet, as posted before, races w/ 1st time starters.

Also, in a race w/ an entry, if I only like half of the entry I will post accordingly, in case of a scratch. (see race #6 @ PP)

If your handicapping is very good, win is the best way to go.

I’m always interested in how successful handicappers make their selections.

Hey Bob, after long hours of crunching numbers, and many, many DailyForm, Doing the same races over and over again, and find out why they won, it all TO ME, comes down to the fastest horse on the field, and the comparison of speed within the field.. Who's going to tired each other out first, who is going to slack behind and let the field tear each other up, and shot from the outside 7 spots on the final quarter to the wire.

HUGE, jockey/Trainer... Speed, pace, J/T, and WILL TO WIN, who's been trying, and who's out just to get some TV time.

I scan thru my stuff, and can pick them out almost instantly, zingin numbers thru my head, and at the same time, visualize the race, within 20-30 seconds, I know my horse and on to the next race.

Like I said, finding the contenders, and breakin it down from there, wheather the field is full of frontrunners, or is the field full of closers, PICTURE THE RACE IN YOUR HEAD..

OK, sorry for the vent, I get pumped up about stuff Im into..

My biggest downfall is being Impatiant, like I have to play a race, when I dont have to, and can just relax and enjoy the surroundings.

I do use FullCardReports, one, because its pretty cheap, and two, they got it together. I personally like to use the Daily when Im at the track, but its 15 miles to the Casino, (Presque Isle Downs), then drive back and get my work in. Long drive, gas is high, time is bad because they open at like 11am.. I am going to go up and just str8 play my DD and pick3's for Aqu all week, but thats just pay and go home deal..

Anyways, I bombed Phili. Been having some problems there, workin it out.

Thanks, Rusrious. That's basically my approach. I depend primarily on speed figures and then then, based on how the figures were earned, pace trip, patterns etc, try to predict whther they will repeat or go up or down.

I see you mentioned the form. Those that mean you rely on the Beyers rather than the Bris figures? I've been using the Bris PPs because I get them free with my Twinspires account but I'm considering switching to the DRF with the Moss pace figures for greater accuracy.

Sure, post how a rolling double and pick 3 did yesterday!!! Then you can post how you did. Dont just post your one winning pick 3 ... I see this all day long on every selector picks. You posted about how great your kids picks are in another forum. I dont want you to be taken as a schill for him. I posted all my bets in order, daily running total and was ahead over a grand for one week. I didnt post only my winners. Its just not legit to post only wins. Every tip sheet in town does that... "big win today" but then leaves off all the losers. Do a running week of bets with your kids figs and then its all cool.

And if you read post #23, you will also see that I mentioned that I had no - 0 - nada - zilch winners at Beulah and no winners at PP in races 3-4-5-7 and RACE #10.
