See what happens when ho goes off teleprompter?

Yes! Because what's on the teleprompter had been (hopefully) reviewed and approved by his handlers.

If Bush, or for that matter any Repug, had made that kind of remark it would have made the front page of virtually every rag in this country.

so far he's thrown veterans and the Special Olympics under the bus.

edit: also journalists, I almost forgot. He's receiving a press award for newsmaker of the year. only one problem, THE PRESS IS NOT INVITED.

I love political bashing but my suggestion is you all pace yourselves, because when more of the good stuff comes around I will be too burnt out to read them!!
I hear 2 new Statues-of-Liberty sre being built- Demos will have 1 looking toward Wall Street; Instead of a torch the right arm will be raised and the middle finger extended. Repub one will be near the original, looking out to sea, right arm and middle finger extended!

I've gotta say, there are some things we just can't have the President of the United States saying. Frankly can't have it in the mainstream media either. Now, in the comedy clubs, where there are plenty of non-politically correct jokes, and presidents are routinely made fun of, that one expects.

I've been chuckling too much here at my desk trying to work, and help myself. I'm not a great public figure, so I might be able to get away with it, but I'm sure this joke I thought up will end up in the comedy clubs anyway, and I know it is PC Incorrect, so will appoligize in advance, and I don't tell jokes about about the physically challenged or black people or minorities for that matter, but here goes - I say, I just couldn't help it:

What is funnier than watching Special Olympians bowl?

Watching the First Black President of the United States make fun of them on National TV!

Pheew! Sorry, but thank you for letting me get that out.

What was also a little sad of a funny, was reading Sargent Shriver and Eunice Kennedy Shirver (sister to Ted Kennedy, strong public endorcement for President Obama) say how disppointed they were about the hurtful words - they are heavily involved in the Special Olympics Movement.

Hey, maybe they'll have a contest for the Special Olympians, maybe invite the top 8 bowlers in the national finals come to the White House and bowl and give them special awards, especially if they beat the President (they all likely would, they're the 8 best.)

Seems to be getting a pass on this from his friends in the media. If Bush had said that the impeachment flags would be flying with a vengeance. Certainly no surprise though. Maybe he knows more about basketball than he does about people with disabilities.

Tom

He sure doesn't know anything about bowling. He bowls like he makes budgets. In the gutter.

But notice how the media protects him - after he gutter balls the first time, the cameras stay away from the ball! Can't embarrass the Messiah, now can we lads?

I am no Obama fan. But..........

I think this was a somewhat innocent comment. Stupid yes..........but I don't think he meant anything bad by it.

I think these guys sometimes forget and return to being "regular guys" for a second and they get caught.

You could have heard this same comment in any Barbershop in America and it wouldn't mean a damn thing. Obama says it on Leno (what a place to say it  ) and it's the end of the world.

Believe me, he has said a lot of things that are worse than this in the last couple of months............and most of them started with

" I will sign this bill............"

The comment must be extremely hurtful for all of those in Special Olympics and their families. That's horrible and unexcusable.

Off the top of my head, I'm assuming there would be a CRUSH of handicapped and disabled people HEADED TO DC right about this time to protest in front of the White House.

Ya'll know damn well if that had come out of Bush's mouth, we'd be hearing about nothing but for the next two weeks, and we'd be getting nonstop coverage of protests both in DC and wherever Bush happened to travel.

if you go to www.tmz.com (http://www.tmz.com) they have a story they did with the defending special olympics bowling champ who is challenging obama to a bowl off!! He apparently averages a 266!!

And right below that is a story that says "if bush had said this, he would be skewered" LOL funny you have to go to tmz for fair and balanced

That's the trouble. Democrats are so politically correct that they are just plain stupid. Everything said seems to offend someone.

I also agree that Obama didn't mean anything by what he said and if the world had any common sense we would all think nothing of it.

However, I know if a Republican said it--- time for impeachment! That's a double standard.

Why is it OK for Democrats to be insensitive and make a joke like that, when they do not allow a Republican to say anything without thinking it's racist or politically incorrect?

it's not OK. i've watched the news lately and it's come up alot and people are saying what an insensitive remark it was. Your talking like he isn't getting any heat for this. I was even listening to a radio guy yesterday who was an Obama supporter but said what a BS comment it was.

One of the great problems in this country is my opinion is that everyone has gotten so sensitive and so easily offended. It's kind of sad when we're complaining about someone NOT getting in trouble for a comment like this because nobody was hurt. It's like the overreaction to what Imus said. Why would hard working young women give a flying F what some old windbag said about them. They would have never heard the comment or even been offended, but someone told them that being called a nappy headed ho was the greatest travesty of their life.

There is so much to skewer Obama for, and he'll get plenty of heat as we go and he continues to screw up. But this is a pretty non-issue, even though the media is covering it quite a bit.

At least his comment got the country's mind off of Limbaugh for awhile. :)

The conspiracy theorist might think Obama's Special Olympic comment wasn't entirely unintentional. :D

I'm not a big fan of Obama, but I do hope his administration can successfully navigate the challenges facing this country -- even if I don't always agree with their actions. I felt the same way towards Bush.

I have to admit when I heard that Obama made that remark, it made me cringe. All I could say is, "What was he thinking?" :faint:

Let's not forget that there were those here who said that when Bush screwed up it was a window into his mind and soul.

I take Obama at his un-prepared word - he was mocking them.
The whole thinking could have been prevented is he had not wasted taxpayer money and flown to California for no good reason, spewing tons of carbon into the atmosphere (funny how GW only matters sometimes). He should have been at home working. Remember those here ( hcap, Sec) who whined and cried about Bush's vacations? No difference here - none at all.

The housing crisis will be solved. The U.S. is going to give foreigners who will come to the U.S. and buy a home resident status -- a green card.

Never been a better time to be a foreigner with cash to burn. Here's a chance to become a duel citizen.

Welps, if you are thinking the governing principles of BO are Socialistic, you may be correct (cept for some debt).

That being the case, you are for Socialism, here and now, unless, that is, you do not want Bo to succeed with his policies.
Which in turn, does not mean you like or dislike anyone, just the polity.

If Bush had said, it would have fueled more hateful impeachment speech by his detractors.
