The Pamplemousse is so awesome!
He worked five furlongs in :59.80 with jockey Alex Solis up this morning for trainer Julio Canani.
Check out the video here (http://maryforney.blogspot.com/2009/03/alex-solis-works-pamplemousse-at-santa.html).

Thanks Mary! Your blog is always great to see, especially since I recently moved out of the Los Angeles area and don't get to frequent the track.

The Pamplemousse didn't really look like "Kentucky Fried Chicken" material in this morning's work. He seemed uncomfortable all the way and had his ears pinned at the finish. He might have been a little pissed that Solis was strangling him.

I can hear Julio now.

"I ming a this horse, he worked like a lobster. Solis was chokin' him zo. He looked like Don Pierce. He had a piano in his mouth zo."

This is the Cali horse that I have my eyes on and can't wait to see his next race. I think he is the only contender from the West Coast..

Pioneer of the Nile looked tired in his last race. He will never catch the mousse. :cool:

Like the tshirt the owner sported. " The Mousse is Loose " Lots of potential there for headlines in local papers and tv spots.

Thanks again Mary;

It really adds to the excitement when legitimate contenders are spread all over the map. It brings out the provincial aspect of our sport that is very healthy for debate.

I have a feeling this landmark restaurant will throw some Del Mar bash if the ‘Mousse gets loose in May. http://pgrille.com/home.html
