Yeah, nothing that spending a few trillion dollars now that we don't have, and maybe a few trillion more later on down the road couldn't fix within a few years or so.

Looks like Wall Street had a pretty good week and Wall Street is crediting the bailouts for it.
A good week for Obama and a bad week for Limbaugh!

how come when wall street "credited" him with a 2000 point drop
you didn't mention that?
do you have any idea the amount of wealth tied into a 2k point drop?
and you are crowing about this one week?

I think I have gone back and forth with you and have enjoyed it.....on this one, I gotta agree with you-first, the WallStreet jump has nothing to do with the bailout-nothing could work so quickly. Second, noone should be crowing until 8 years from now when we can tell whether or not this extremely questionable plan of loaning money to failing businesses actually works(which I honestly doubt it will).

The dow gained about 500 pts. this past week . I recall gains of much more in single day(s) when Bush was in still in office . I don't remember Bush taking any of the credit . Although there were terrible days as well , I don't recall Bush being handed trillions to right the ship either . Anyone with half a brain must know that all this wealth being fed into the economy by the govt. will have at least some positive effect . I want to see how long it last , and how much more Obama will spend to keep it going . I want to see the long term effect of all this borrowing . I wouldn't say a weeks worth of good is any indication of success .

When I say stuff like this, the left on off-topic rips me a new one.
When Obama says it, he gets all the credit in the world...

OK, I guess that means this is now Obama's economy and there should be no more comments like..."inherited mess from the previous administration" right?

he's only saying it's not that bad as a reverse psychological trick...to make people think it is actually really really bad.
He is very clever, in these ways.

He's only saying it because this has to be one of the most negative, pessimistic, reticent presidents that ever darkened the oval office. He never says anything that's positive about America or encouraging to Americans. His handlers probably told him that he can't always be gloom and doom 'cause it does nothing for his presidential image. As Tom has pointed out, he's done a 180-degree turnabout -- something you're personally familiar with and experienced in, Chick. ;)

He is "negative, pessimistic and reticent"?????? Did you listen to any of his Inauguration speeches???? Has never said anything encouraging????You are just flat out wrong. What he is is practical in terms of our current economic situation.
At least he isnt a clueless, borderline illiterate joke like that one that "darkened"(as you would say)the Oval office for 8 years.....
If you are going to pick on him, then pick on the clueless, impractical stimulus package he has pushed through----but dont say he is negative because you are wrong

Astonishing, you are, in your hatred, vitriol and ignorance and disengenuousness. I could quote probably dozens of speeches from Obama on a positive note for America- not him- America.
Excerpts from this one will do...
"PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK OBAMA: If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.
Its the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled - Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America.
Its the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.
I just received a very gracious call from Senator McCain. He fought long and hard in this campaign, and hes fought even longer and harder for the country he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine, and we are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader. I congratulate him and Governor Palin for all they have achieved, and I look forward to working with them to renew this nations promise in the months ahead.
The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America - I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you - we as a people will get there.
So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other. Let us remember that if this financial crisis taught us anything, its that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers - in this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people.
And to all those who have wondered if Americas beacon still burns as bright - tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.
This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time - to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth - that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we cant, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:
Yes We Can. Thank you, God bless you, and may God Bless the United States of America."

And I would suggest that even if all that were true, these things would be surpassed by your foolishness and naivete and gullibility. I still maintain, as I did prior to his inauguration that he has never uttered a word of of unconditional praise about America. Don't forget this would not come easy to him, living with a wife who has only recently found greatness in America since her husband was nominated for the presidency. And have you so soon forgotten who some of his associates are -- the hate-filled bigot Wright who preached hate for white America, while BO sat there listening to that hatred and vitriol and ignorance for 20 years? Or what about his buddy Ayers, a domestic terrorist and a supporter of BO. You don't think Ayers and BO had a lot in common -- politically?
Excerpts from this one will do...
"PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK OBAMA: If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.
Even in this paragraph he doesn't speak to America's present greatness -- he speaks to its possibility -- "where all things are possible".
Its the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.
Here again in this paragraph, he isn't addressing America's greatness past or present -- but speaks about a "better day". I guess America now and in the past needs improvement? America hasn't achieved enough in the world? America hasn't contributed enough to the world? America is and hasn't been the brightest beacon of freedom in the world? He wants to make things "better"?
So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other. Let us remember that if this financial crisis taught us anything, its that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers - in this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people.
Yes, indeed -- we need that "new spirit of patriotism" because the "old" one is worn out? It's no longer good enough? It has become obsolete, has it? And note his tone of collectivism in this paragraph. We've got to look after each other, i.e. "share the wealth".
So, I would suggest that you remove your rose-colored glasses, get to know the man -- most especially when he has spoken unscripted -- and then his scripted, fluff-filled. cream puff words will start to make sense to you. Any effort less than this will only serve to perpetuate your ignorance and your willful self-deception.

P.S. Do yourself a favor and contrast some of Reagan's speeches with BO'ss. Reagan was constantly lifting The People up. His speeches were always edifying for the most part. Regan constantly told Americans that we are the ones have made this country so great -- not government! I find nothing edifying in BO's inauguration speech.

I'd suggest that O'Bama is practicing "voodoo economics," but his loyal supporters would probably find some racism in that.
Racism has nothing to do with it...I hate that POS Obama for what HE HIMSELF is...not his color. He is a lying thief and has no redeeming qualities.
He has cost this country more than Bin Laden and will prove to be the greater enemy than Bind Laden. I would prefer our troops move into DC than Pakistan. he real enemy lives in DC.
