View Full Version : Weekend Beyers
Empire Maker-111
Peace Rules-104
Sir Cherokee-106
I haven't received the Simulcast Weekly to look over all the charts at one time, but these seem a little wacky to me.
A 111 without supposedly trying? Funny Cide a 110 at 1 1/8m? I can see Peace Rules, but Sir Cherokee (as Tom predicted, BTW) a 106? Can't wait til Friday to take a look at these in depth in light of the Beyers assigned the other races on the card.
What do the rest of you think?

Might very well be an error. Tough track to make a good variant on because of the mud. Track was drying out throughout the day so the condition was changing constantly.
Don't know how you do a variant for the day. How do you "project" Funny Cide to do a 110?
Curious as to the Sheet figures.

CJ Wary of the 111,remember what he says about a horse that is not pressed hard in a race, often runs a great fig and many think the horse can do better.Too high a fig for Sir Cherokee.Based on the time,I think the track would be souped up on a day for the big race,so the fact it was a good time would make me think that was the reason for the high fig on an outsider.I haven't looked at the charts either, but i get the feeling the Derby winner is a horse yet to get to peak form.

Like last year's Wood figure (wind factor!), I think the fig for this year's edition probably isn't worth much. I have no idea what to think about the Blue Grass number. The track looked to be playing pretty slow all day. Peace Rules goes unchallenged when the other speed horse had early trouble (I forget what, exactly) and never really had to do much to win. I had a very BLAH feeling about these prep races before they were run, and I still feel much the same after seeing them. *yawn*

I make the Wood a 112-114
The Bluegrass a 112-113
Pace and speed requirements for the Derby 107-111
Raw times can be deceiveing - Looks a sloberknocker at CD.
