Baffert made up his mind....or, as he said...Indian Blessing made it up for him...she's going to Dubia--
http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/49519/indian-blessing-will-run-in-dubai

I really don't like to see a horse travel over there, simply because it usualy takes forever for them to get back to normal once back home...but, maybe she's strong enough to take the trip there & back better than most...I have to respect Baffert's desision, as I know he'd not go if he had the slightest doubt that it isn't the right thing to do...
so, I hope it goes well, that she deals with it like the champion she is...and that she kicks ass:jump:

Anyone care to share their thoughts?

As someone who likes that horse a lot, it seems like a pretty big and maybe risky move---although I dont think it has been as prevelant lately, it just seems to take the startch out of the horse....she is going there to face the boys as well, which seems to make it an even harder test

Not only have Americans done very well in the Golden Shaheen, but the prep on "Super Thursday" which was won by Gayego looked like a very uninspiring race.

Those were my original thoughts also...but Baffert will not send this mare anyplace unless he knows she's 110% and it's the right thing to do...so, I put my faith in his good judgement...as for facing the boys...we need to see who she'll have in there running against her.

agreed....the fact that he is doing it makes me feel a little better as well....he has done such a great job with her-many other trainers would have drained the horse trying to prove she can go longer-instead, he acknowledged her apparent distance limitations(past a mile and a sixteenth) and made her into a terrific sprinter

toetoe... are you making a joke  or are you under the impression Indian Blessing is going to be bred to E Dubia:confused: ...she's going to Dubia to run in the World Sprint against the colts...
if I read your post wrong, forgive me:)

Yes...it's quite obvious Baffert gave this a ton of thought...just him saying it was Indian Blessing that told him..."let's go"...makes you feel better about the decision. Baffert always does the right thing with his horses and you know he just adores this mare...like we all do...she's an incredible race horse.

If you have a Twinspires acct you can view the replays. Gayego was a part of the squadron of horses purchased by both Sheikh Mo and his brother Hamdan.

I have no problem with American connections going to Dubai and bringing home some Arab money. They certainly have enough of ours (not intended to be political).

The money isn't the point, for my post and opinion anyway...traveling there always takes a lot out of a horse...then when they get home, there's a long R&R layoff and we have to wait what seems forever to see a favorite horse, like Indian Blessing, race here again...maybe I'm being selfish;)
But, if she goes over there and wins...it'll sure be another feather in her cap...and Baffert's too.

The Dubai thing is a myth. The stats just don't back it up at all.

hmmmmm....thanks, cj.... I don't know what the stats are for horses coming back from Dubia...just that trainers all seem to say it takes a lot out of their horses...but, hey...you are a stat-man:) so I'll take your word for it...and hope that Indian Blessing goes, wins and comes back ready to fight another battle.
I love this mare....can ya tell:jump:

Mike Watchmaker talked about the Dubai trip taking a lot out of horses on TVG and was pretty much heckled by Kiaran McLaughlin.

I would back Watchmaker....I would love to see exact stats but I would say that in most cases, it certainly doesnt help. I am also of the opinion that there is going to continue to be a trend of foreign entities buying up horses and taking them away from the states like happened to Midshipman .....also, it seems like foreign entities are gradually snapping up our breeding entities as well. This keeps up and a lot of things about racing here could change......so, i am starting to question sending horses from here overseas instead of keeping them here where we can enjoy them-just a thought

Rocklane....THANK YOU so much for the link:ThmbUp: and I'm sorry I took so long to reply to your post...been very busy, please forgive me.

Now we are getting close to World Cup Day at Dubia...they just put up the pre entires...and IMO, the field for the World Cup is not as great as past races...I just hope the horses from America all do well...I actually can see us taking the World Cup with one of them...Albertus Maximus, Anak Nakal, Arson Squad or Well Armed...personally, I like Well Armed for the win....unless the Japanese finally get a really good one out of Casino Drive...which I doubt:)

I like Kip Deville in the Duty Free...and in the Golden Shaheen...Indian Blessing all the way...I have my heart :jump: set on her winning this...and no reason she can't...what a great feat it would be.

Thanks again!

Honestly, I must be watching different races in California than anyone else because I would never put him on a horse in a big race...very, very inconsistent
