On Thursday, I had no prime or soft wagers. Among my contenders only selections, I had five winners and a scratch but none of my combinations clicked. So it goes...

Friday’s selections at www.thetbdhandicapper.com:
1st - Contenders Only – Meadow Skipper (6) Early speed improves with each start. Was in the race to mid-stretch last time out. Precision Queen (11) had the best fig in the field two back, then raced forwardly and stopped. Was entered at 7F on 2/7 but scratched after getting loose in post parade. Martinez sticks with this tempermental filly, so do I. Sheer Queenie (12) is another improving 3YO and she finished 2nd in last with a fig good enough to beat these today. Exacta Box 6,11,12 and Trifectas 6,11,12/3,10/6,11,12
2nd – Contenders Only – Sarina’s Mama (10) was closest to par than any of today’s starters in last, but Smock wins only 4% with shorten ups and 8% with dropdowns. Smock/Cotto are ITM ½ the time. Still looks like the best but not at odds less than 5-2. Wynn’s Wild Flower (9) saved the place in last but will surely be pressured by one or more of the firsters in today’s race. Exacta Box 9,10 and Trifectas All/10/9
3rd – A soft wager – Carolsbeentaukin (3). Six of nine in last were $25,000 claimers including the winner and the placer. Last two figs were best among these. Has been racing into fast early paces and should have a pace that’s more to her liking this afternoon. Win (3), Exacta 3/1 and Trifectas 3/2,4,6,7,/1
4th – Contenders Only – Richie London (4) returns to a sprint for new connections after a good race at 8.5F. Benny Feliciano is having a dynamite meeting and has had the midas touch off the claim lately. Queens Crumpets (6) was declared a non-starter in last because the horse did not have a fair start. The jockey's right foot was not in the iron when the gate doors opened and Michele Dehn was unseated. Miguel Feliciano opts for sprint after excellent 3F work a week ago, however, Queens Crumpets is only 2-16 in sprints lifetime. Exacta Key Box 4/3,6,9 and Trifectas 4,6/3,9/4,6
5th – Contenders Only – Forever Gleaming (3) has highest fig at today’s distance and that was in last. Was beaten favorite in last. Red hot Daniel Centeno (7-12 in the past week) is up. New Zealander (6) and Always In Love (8) both have %E that is outside the upper parameter for today’s distance. Win (3) and Trifectas 5,9/3/2,4,5,7,9
6th – Contenders Only – Exacta Key Box 5/1,2 and Trifectas 2,5/6,10/1,2,5,6,10
7th – Contenders Only – Appella’s Trip (8) has been close to or above par in all route starts since spring of 2YO season. Leaves open company for N3L today. Leading rider Daniel Centeno takes the call. Shegoestoeleven (1). O’connell wins 25% and is ITM 50% with Turf-to-Dirt + runners and Shegoestoeleven had three seconds in seven dirt starts. K O’C/Homeister team are 15-31 ITM. Exacta Key Box 8/1,3,7 and Trifectas 1,8/3,5,7/1,3,5,7,8
8th – Contenders Only – Harold’s Sister (10) had best fig in the field in last. ITM in 5 of 6. Bullet work three days ago Bates won only 10% with L1-3’s in last two seasons. Win (10) and Saver Exactas 3,8/10.
9th – Contenders Only – The three 8YO’s battle it out in a grudge match. Sunsational (2) Exposito is only 20% ITM in first three off claim. Exacta Box 3,5,6
10th – Contenders Only – In last race Azura (6) was last entering the turn, made a middle move in the turn, was going very well in the stretch but could not reach the winner. In race before that Azura had best fig in the field on the grass. Azura has delivered in every start and today will be no different. Exacta Key Box 6/5,7 and Trifectas 6/1,3,4,8/5,7
11th - Contenders Only – Exacta Box 3,7,8 and Trifectas 3,7,8/1,5,6,11/3,7,8
