The industry is starting to listen. Hawthorne announced a significant rebate program today. This is not "bet $100k" and get a tee-shirt, this is significant.

Even if you bet $10 you get a point back. Rebates max at 4% (and not for $100k a month/whatever. It is for $200k a year), which is the best rebate program for a track in North America, and a few short years ago this would be considered heresy.

Other perks are for discounts on track, concierge service etc.

It's a good start.

Dean,

This is great if the wagers at other tracks count. Otherwise, although the minimums are much lower, it is only one track.

Dave, it says all wagers for the higher levels (before 6:30).

PS: Let us know a bit earlier next time when you are having a seminar. I saw your post and popped it on the blog, but only with an hour or two to go. I am sure members would be interested!

That is a step in the right direction, giving the brick and mortar players a shot at reducing take out. Congrats to Hawthorne!

Does this only apply to wagers made while at Hawthorne or to wagers made at their OTB's as well?

To summarize, less than $10K per month will get you 1%.

$10K to $25K will get you 3%

$25K and up will get you 5%.

I don't remember how many months that PRM races, but I bet there aren't many patrons betting on-site who get more than 1%. They can do substantially better than that from a rebate perspective placing their bets via PTC.

Not knocking your track as I've never been there. Is there an adjoining casino?

You are correct on the percentages.

We race Thoroughbred only from 4/24 to 7/18. A mixed meet from 7/27 to 9/19. A standardbred meet from 9/28 to 10/24.

The players' reward program applies to both live and the year-round simulcast product.

We offer slot, poker, and table games in addition to pari-mutuel wagering.

What is PTC?

What is PTC?

PTC is the average-player's ADW outfit. Ask your simulcast director or whoever handles relations with ADW's.
