Prime Wager Results.13-31 (42%) -$7.80(13-3-6) (71% ITM)
Soft Wager Results....16-53(30%) -$16.60 (16-13-5) (64% ITM)

On Tuesday, my prime wager in the 7th, Gesundheit, won by five and paid $4.60.

Among my contenders only selections:

My 8th race $4 saver exacta returned $16.00,
My 9th race $32 trifecta returned $572.00, and
My 10th race $8 trifecta returned $391.80. So it goes...

Note: In the last three seasons, the 2nd and 3rd choices in Feature and Stakes races have had a positive ROI of $0.61 and $1.74 in straight exactas, respectively. To date this season, these 2nd and 3rd choice straight exactas are 2-56 in Features and 0-14 in Stakes with ROI's of -21 cents in Features and -$2.00 in Stakes. Don’t miss the boat. Start playing (or at least considering) these straight exactas as they are overdue to start clicking and we are well beyond the mid-point of the racing season.

Thursday’s selections at www.thetbdhandicapper.com:

1st – Contenders Only – Lawrenceberg (8) was closest to par in last and drops to rock bottom level here. Ronnie Allen Jr. sticks. One Eyed Sailor (1) gets attention with 3-6 ITM. Lincoln Imp (10) %E in last two have been close to or above the upper limit for 8.5F. Exacta Key Box 8/1,10 and Trifectas 1,8/2,9,10/1,8,10

2nd – Contenders Only – I’ll Make It Up (10) had best figs in the field throughout his 2008 campaign and was the beaten favorite in debut at Tampa. Been absent for awhile. Work on Feb.18th was excellent for this bunch of losers. Teators absence aboard Joan Scott’s Cacti (7) is suspect. Exacta Box 6,10, and Trifectas 6,10/1,6,8,10/1,7,8

3rd – Contenders Only – Just for Kicks (1) comes back to the dirt after posting an above par 79 (in a par 66) in last on the grass. Was close to par in four races at the route. Centeno has the return call. Casablanca Babe (6) takes the drop and is looking for first Tampa win, after three seconds in five starts. Had a great year in 2008. Girten-Drake/Teator are 4-8 ITM. Superfine Time (7) had best fig at the distance three back and had strong work on March 1st. Could pop again. Exacta Box 1,6 and Trifecta 1/7/6

4th – Contenders Only – Dixie Pipe (5) has been ITM in 13-17 since leaving oldtimer Carl J. Cooper’s barn a year ago (I ran into his niece at the track last week. She told me the 76 year old Cooper is well, but that he can no longer handle the physical demands of thoroughbred training.) Dale Bennett wins 40% with shorten ups and Bennett/ Ramgeet team are 23-36 ITM. Ningbo’s (4) last fig was in the zone, also shortens up today. Diligent Won (3) is 0-15 in 2008-2009 and only 2-31 lifetime at Tampa. Nothing to get excited about with Diligent Won. Win (5), Saver Exacta 4/5 and Trifectas 5/2,3,10,11/4

5th – Contenders Only – Lakeside Run (8). Clement/Centeno are 9-11 ITM with 6 wins. Lakeside Run gets the key position in my wager here. Exacta Key Box 8/1,5 and Trifectas 1,5,8/8,9,10/1,5,9,10

6th – Contenders Only – Exacta Box 5,6,11 and Trifectas 5,6,11/3,7,9/5,6,11

7th – Contenders Only – Mass (5) is 1-35 lifetime but with consistent figs that would best these 4 times out of 5. Was close at today’s distance last summer. KO’C/RoHo combo is 17-37 ITM. Lightly raced Moudy Blues (6) goes back to the route where he broke his maiden in the fall. Showed signs of life in last. Winless (0-58) trainer Donald Pittman detracts attention away from the virtues of Moudy Blues. The Key to Time (7) is sub-par but consistent. Rockon Rockoff (8) was out of the money in seven starts on the dirt. Exacta Box 5,6,7 and Trifectas 5,6,7/2,8/5,6,7

8th – Contenders Only – Eldoktori (8) went the last three panels in an average of 11.80 per in last. Shortens up today. Pecoraro won 24% with L1-3’s last two seasons and was 42% ITM on the grass during same period. Opportune Moment (9) is another shipper with good final fractions. Dale Bennett abandons his regular rider, Andrew Ramgeet for RoHo, one of Tampa’s best turf jockeys. Bennett wins 44% and is ITM 78% with L1-3 + S + Up in Class runners. Win (8), Saver Exacta 9/8 and Trifectas 8,9/3,4,7,13/8,9

9th – Contenders Only – Roboponi (7) was entered at the $5000 level once, where he trounced them at today’s distance. Every start at Tampa has been above par. Had a great year as a 3YO and winning ways will continue. Exacta Key Box 7/4,6 and Trifectas 7/8/2,3,4,6

10th – Contenders Only – Sweetsformyhoney (9) showed good early speed in 2YO season. Any further development in last eight months and she should put these away. Jurgens/Krueger rings a bell in Johnny B’s memory bank of victories from the distant past. Exacta Key 9/4,5,11 and Trifectas 9/All/4

Good luck and good racing!
