Soft Wager Results....16-52(31%) -$14.60 (16-12-5) (63% ITM)
On Saturday, my soft wager in the 6th, Mac Speed, closed with a rush but was too late and had to settle for third. Among my contenders only selections, my 9th race $4 trifecta returned $56.20. Mercifully, my 3rd race wager was scratched. So it goes...
Sunday’s selections:
1st - Contenders Only – Multiphone (5). Red hot Ziadie wins 36% with Fastbacks (73% ITM) and wins 25% with Route-to-Sprints (75% ITM). Five of Multiphone’s six ITM’s were in sprints. First Pegasus (4). If he’s still the same horse two years later, he wins. Cattleman (6) has improved with each start and last fig was best among recent starters, but a 6YO maiden? Exacta Box 4,5,6 and Trifectas 4,5,6/1,3,8/4,5,6
2nd – Contenders Only – Many Mesas (6) was outkicked in last and comes back fast for Girten-Drake. The Girten-Drake/Teator team is 50% ITM. Shortens up today for the win. Exacta Key Box 6/2,8,10
3rd – Contenders Only – Mandu Genius (8) is always trying (LT 26 7-8-0). Had above par fig two back. Has not won off layoff in two career attempts. Regwell (9) was above par in two of last three. Ness is in 48% of all the exactas in which he has a starter. Win (9) and Trifectas 3,4,5,7,8/9/3,4,5,7,8
4th – Contenders Only – What’s the Deal (11) is the only 3YO in the field to race at par and that was two back. Takes big drop, shortens up, and adds blinkers. Win (11) and Trifectas 3,8,9,12/11/3,8,9,12
5th – Contenders Only – This race is wide open. Golden Deeds (8) gets the key position in my exacta box in this race. Goes for Graham Motion who is 75% ITM with Dirt-to-Turfs, 57% ITM with Layoffs. He is also 63% ITM in the last two seasons for owners Pin Oak Stable. Chicalelee (2). Clement has most turf winners this season, 6 for 13 (46% Win). I propose Exacta Key Box 8/4,7,13 and Trifectas 2,8,13/4,7,8/4,7,8
6th – Contenders Only – Skip the Flip (3) takes a big drop for Behrens and could return to the winner’s circle for third time in seven races. However, Behrens wins only 3% with fastbacks. Rue D’Argent (4) was ITM in 13 of 22 lifetime and had a great year in 2008. Was 2nd best in last. Cibelli Gonzalez team is 50% ITM this season. Old City Bar (5) is another that’s in the money often, won last, and Ness is hard to leave out. Exacta Box 4,5 and Trifectas 3,9,12/4,5/3,4,5,9,12
7th – Contenders Only – Feastorfamine (3) goes for Ziadie, who is 9-23 (39%) on the grass this season and Ziadie/Homeister team is 31-43 (72%) ITM, but Feastorfamine was sub-par in last two and appears likely to be outgunned today. Exacta Box 1,10,11 and Trifectas 1,10,11/8,13,14/1,3,8,10,11
8th – Contenders Only – Exacta Box 6,7,8 and Trifectas 6,7,8/1,2,5/6,7,8
9th – A soft wager, Cardinal Nation (2).Was close to par at 12F after steadying in the final turn in last. Oliver always has serious intentions at Tampa and is looking for smallest purse on the grass yet for Cardinal Nation. Oliver was 25% win and 75% ITM in last two seasons at the Downs. Red hot Centeno is in the irons. Watch out for those mad bombers Rhone and Bramante. Win (2), Saver Exacta 7/2 and Trifectas 2/5,7,8,9/5,7,8,9
10th – Contenders Only – Biblionico (4). Big fig in maiden victory. Trounced in stake, back to earth now. Ziadie was 6 for 11 with L4-8’s in the last two seasons. He brings’em back ready. Promise Me Merlot (5) takes a sensible drop after racing well with better. Win (4), Saver Exacta 5/4 and Trifectas 4,5/3,6,11/3,4,5,6,11
11th – Contenders Only – Exacta Box 5,7 and Trifectas 7/3,4,5/3,4,5,11,12
