message from ABC radio on the passing of Paul Harvey.

"Paul Harvey was one of the most gifted and beloved broadcasters in our nation's history. As he delivered the news each day with his own unique style and commentary, his voice became a trusted friend in American households. His career in radio spanned more than seven decades, during which time countless millions of listeners were both informed and entertained by his "News & Comment" and "Rest of the Story" features. Even after the passing of his loving wife Angel in May 2008, Paul would not slip quietly into retirement as he continued to take the microphone and reach out to his audience. We will miss our dear friend tremendously and are grateful for the many years we were so fortunate to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers are now with his son Paul Jr. and the rest of the Harvey family."

I've been listening for 5 of those decades. Sad news, he was truly Mr. Radio.

What a loss. I imagine his son will probably take over the daily broadcasts, but it just won't be the same for me. Rest in peace.

He was rich beyond all means that any of us will know.

Check out this website for what might be the "rest of the story."

Kind of you to offer that....but ...you really haven't heard the words...

"Paul Harvey... standby for news" & "Paul Harvey... good day" were everyday in my grandparent's house in 1960s & 1970s. Paul Harvey will be remembered as both a legend and an institution in news reporting business. He found unique mix of news, storytelling, and advertising that clicked with his listeners. Many have attempted to duplicate his style, wit and delivery, but none have truly succeeded.

RIP, Paul Harvey, because now we know... the rest of the story.

Stand by for news! how did it make you feel to hear those words?

his show worked like a well oiled machine, each segment finely crafted. always entertaining. and how many people could hold your attention like Paul Harvey could during the advertisements? I never bought a Bose Wave radio but he sure made it sound good.
