Obamas soak the rich plans are likely to speed up the rate at which they're heading for the exits in wealthy blue states like California and New York, states already reeling from high taxes and out of control spending.

what i don't get is why these blue staters would leave for another state seeking lower taxes? I thought paying taxes was patriotic.

"Take California. Its top income tax rate is the nation’s highest at 9.3%. More appalling, it kicks in at only $47,056 a year. Make too much gold in the Golden State–a million a year–and you are pinched by a 1% surcharge. California also has a 7.25% sales tax, but that’s just a base. "

"The trend of higher taxes has not escaped California taxpayers. For each of the last five years, California has led the nation in the outflow of its residents to other states. Since 2004, California has lost about a million and a half people from taxpaying households."

I don't think that they are moving to other states....It is more likely "other countries"......As they probably had their bailout already or are next in line to receive it, and they will head to destinations unknown, before this country is drained for good...

It appears high taxes only makes for very good class envy/warfare rhetoric. In practice, virtually no one wants to pay higher taxes, which is very odd, isn't it? It looks this country is filled with unpatriotic types.

I have lived in Ca all my 57 years in various cities, was a US census enumerator in 1990, and did political petitioning several elections.
IMO, Ca's main problem is an out of ciontrol population growth. Ca does have good $$$ for SSI and in some places section 8 housing. Sales tax is out of control.
In cities where there is a higher % of working folks the budget is usually in better shape.

yep. gvt/business sponsor of illegal imm is their problem , plain and simple.
since the small bus are sucking at the benefit teet of this illegal flood to get their low wage workers off the books but yet using the same services as the normal taxpayer, then yeah, either get rid of the illegals and kill the small bus using the illegals or tax the hell out of them since they are not paying for the "services" they are making use of.

scam all the way, just one of many.
but the "message" is developed to hide that in the msm buzz.

Perhaps, but other cities are on the verge of bankruptcy due to benefit packages of city employee - somethings got to give. Cities like Redmond are cutting their police depts to make ends meet.
