I Googled harness racing takeout and came up with this blog.

http://harnessracingblog.com/harness-racing-takeout/

While most of the Superfecta takeouts were around 25%, the Meadows was listed at 15%. I went to the Meadows' site, but, couldn't find any takeout info.

Does anyone know if this is accurate?

That chart is terribly outdated. It has been passed around since the days Elmira was racing and has some bad errors.
Northlands 0.225 should not be in win column
If you email the individual track you MIGHT get better answers

Take outs on Trifectas, Supers etc for a few tracks are available at Bobby Z's site. (not a forum).

http://mysite.verizon.net/r.zanakis/index.htm I don't know how old the info is.
He list The Meadows Superfecta as 26%

This PA post has some good info

The chart I posted in that thread is updated here, should be accurate to +- 1%
and is good enough for my purposes.

Thx Ray.....:jump:

Wow, those greedy "little" Canadian tracks...... ...Glad the 3-Canadian tracks that I do play, Fraser, Mohawk and Woodbine, are so very sensible.....

best,

Thanks Ray.

Can't believe that Harrington ex takeout. No wonder their exactas don't pay anything.

HANA is working on getting a pile of data on harness tracks that is up to date. It's been tough but working on it.

Dean---Anyone either t-bred or s-bred should think twice before betting a trifecta at any Pennsylvania track. The take goes from 28% to 31% also Mohawk and Woodbine nail you for 28.6% on tri's. Easy to see why I like the pic4 at Meadowlands with it's 15% take.

That is something that sticks in many a craw Mel. 15% versus 26% is huge. On a $800 hit it means you get paid $700. Multiply that by thousands of hits and thousands of players and it is megabucks sucked out of handles.

Every day players might have a hundred of those hits a year. They might lose $10000 just due to that bridge. They will look at the bankroll at the end of the year and think they are a big losing player, when in actuality they would be a winning player if they had played in the 15% M pick 4, rather than a PA one.

The sad part is, slots have injected (soon to be) billions into the PA program, yet their rakes are the highest in the world. The M gets virtually nothing yet they are 15%

Here is some up to date stuff on the Meadows:

Win Plc Shw EX QU DD TRI SPR P3/P4
The Meadows PA 18.00% 18.00% 18.00% 20.00% 20.00% 20.00% 29.00% 30.00% 30.00%

Dean----Penna tracks are odd in that the win and exacta take at most tracks such as Chester and Pocono are not all that bad. It's in the other exotic bets that they really rip off customers. At 31% for a tri at pocono or 15% for a pic4 at Meadowlands it's easy for me to choose.

MeadowLANDS has the 15% super takeout

I checked the Meadowlands site. While I couldn't find out how much they skim from bettors, I was able to find this interesting tidbit:

The Meadowlands Racetrack record for attendance is 52,975 set on June 11, 1982 on the night of a closed ciruit broadcast of the Cooney-Holmes heavyweight championship fight.
