I've got an excel file called Pick 4 Pro, you give it horses and odds lines and whatnot, and it spits out tickets after doing some optional weeding out of tickets you might not want.

Who sold me that? I can't seem to find reference to it, tho I'm sure I must have first come across it here...

I want a pick 6 version -- if anyone knows of one, or someone who wants to write one.

This may be what you have:
The Version Pick 4 Pro (and Pick 6) that I know of was, was produced by Bet-Smart.com. They have closed the site.

Steve Martin was the designer of the spreadsheet. Yes, there is a Pick-6 version. Check your mail.

I would not take my failure to cash Pick 6 tickets as any condemnation of the software.

what do you set the min max at... I think 1k on the small end... and since i have hit them for 19k before and really liked that feeling, i could see 20k.. It was a 30.00 followed by a 50.00... but probably would think the bell curve would be 10k..

I made a fairly large study of P4 payoffs in December (462 available P4s). These were some of the statistics:
Minimum P4: $15.80 (TuP)

About 10% pay less than $100 for $1 wager!

Maximum P4: $155634 (Aqu)

About 10% pay more than $4000 for $1 wager.

Median P4: $675.70

About 60% of $1 tickets are IRS.

Mean P4: $2529

I would think $1000 on the minimum end is too high. You might want to consider something closer to $600 as a minimum.

The maximum end is very difficult to judge because about 7% of the tickets were consolation payoffs for 3/4. Half of those consolation payoffs involves at least one horse paying more than $40. Many of the other consolations were for small pool sizes. Your maximum would need to be in consideration of pool size. You could target maximum $4,000 and hope you catch an aberrational payoff. If you used the $600 minimum and the $4,000 maximum, you would be playing for an upper 50% of the payoffs (cutting lowest 40% and highest 10%).

Anybody have the file of this Pick 4 Program? I see the site is no longer running.

When I did the study, I was very surprised about the large number of very low paying tickets.

I also saw that the best way to approximate the P4 payoff was to look at consecutive daily double payoffs rather than taking P3 payoffs and adding one race.
