G'day from Oz...
I am developing my own systematic handicapping software.
After years of having mixed success with manual handicapping using (self developed) time ratings and pace analysis (given that in Australia pace data is basically nil), I have decided to try removing the human element and go for a "press this button to get your selections" approach.
To this end, I am playing around with ANN's and have (more or less) settled on the open source FANN library. I use Python to run the SQL queries and massage the input data for training and testing and aim eventually to have the whole thing automated from go to whoa.
I have a few ideas on how this could work and initial testing is quite encouraging. I would be very interested in comparing notes with any others doing similar work.
