Fair Grounds my man, Louisiana Downs is many hours away, and isn't in the same league. Fair Grounds has some of the best winter racing in the country.

Good article and agree that the long stretch is a unique part of the Fairgrounds. Bump everything up - a mile and forty, a mile and sixteenth then back to a mile and an eighth for the LA Derby, that it had been for 90 years till the change for '88. Never made any since to me to run the prep at the same distance as the big race, as they run now.
A chute would also help and I say put the New Orleans Handicap back to a mile and a quarter especially since there are so few two turn mile and a quarter handicap races on dirt anymore.
