Who would be obtuse enough to try and make loot from a 2/5 fav running out in a field of 5? :bang:

It has been done many times before. You don't have to be right very often at all.

The big issue with bridgejumpers, that I find is that you must make sure that the pool is far enough out of whack. Playing against a jumper horse that has only 85% of the pool is certainly more risky (from a profit POV) that one that has greater than 92% or so.

with net pool pricing you don't get the true price when the horse with the money runs out.

Blushing K D ran out in a 5 horse field in the Black Eyed Susan Stakes (1997) at Pimlico - the 3 show prices ranged from the $70's to the $90's

The 8th at golden gate yesterday produced some nice show prices when the one horse who had over 100k to show on him ran out.:) But I think that was a slightly larger field.

They don't look like bridgejumper show payoffs to me. Would anyone be foolish enough to jump on a horse first time after being claimed from a Wolfson?

Its funny you mention the 8th at GG yesterday. I actually made the right bet as I noticed the Holldendorfer entry was 1-5 and had 90k plus bet to show on them. I thought at least two horses looked as good. So, I bet $20 place and $40 to show on the #2 Captain Roy. Was very pleased when one half of the entry was being cooked on the lead by the longest shot in the field and the other half was dead last.

Was very lucky that the closer was just bobbed out for 3rd.

#2 paid $8.60 to place and $27.80 to show. My $60 bet turned into $642. Not bad for a likely risk of $18, considering the #2 was going to hit the board and pay $2.10 to show if the entry ran in with it.
