Does TVG still charge $.25 to make a bet?
yeah, but it gets refunded the first of every month if you churn $2,500 in play.

TVG charges .25 per wager? That is abosulutely unbefrickinlievable. You learn something new every day. That hurts new players and those with a smaller budget, gives them a bitter taste in their mouth. Great game, TVG.

Let me get this straight... If you wanted to make several $2 win bets on a card, throw in several .10 supers, this would cost you somewhere in the range of $3+?

The fees caps @ $19.95..or 79 & 3/4's bets...here's the TVG "fine print"
-----
As a TVG subscriber, you will be required to select one (1) of the following two (2) plans to pay for TVG wagering account services:

(1) Flat Rate Plan – A flat $19.95 monthly subscription fee that includes unlimited wagering transactions and video streaming at no additional cost will be charged to your selected payment option no later than five days after the end of the month in which the subscription fee was incurred.

(2) Pay As You Go Plan – A fee of $0.25 per wagering transaction (regardless of the dollar amount of each transaction), with a cap of $19.95 (or approximately 80 transactions) will be automatically deducted from your account each day. If your account does not have sufficient funds for the deduction of wagering transaction fees, such fees will be deducted immediately from the next deposit into your account.

There are no contract terms with TVG plans. You can change your plan at any time, however plan updates are effective on the first day of the following month. Under either plan, your fees will be waived or refunded as the case may be on or before the fifth day following the end of such month if you wager $2,500 or more during a month.

TVG doesn't feel the 20% take is enough for bettors to pay.

At least they cap it at $20, that’s a little better, but still ugly for a monthly fee. Here’s my observation…

I would guess that horseplayers are more connected as a group than any other significant sport or form of gambling in the U.S. Think about it… Forums like PA, TBA, etc. The % of handicappers who are a member of or follow these various fan-based groups must be higher than other sports/gambling competition. There isn’t a Slot Bloggers Alliance and even if there was, the ratio of nationwide slot-players vs. Alliance members would be incomparable to racing.

PA discussion can reach publications and sites far beyond this forum, such as Equidaily, the Thoroughbred Times and many others. Many of the fan-based groups are surprisingly connected. If the players could unanimously put up enough of a stink, we could force the industry to hear us. PA has proven this multiple times.

If the player has so much potential power in this game, why are we getting the short end of the stick from time-to-time? What’s up with Maryland raising the takeout so drastically? If I have my numbers straight, raising the Pick 4 takeout from 14% to 27.75% in the midst of handle decline is unfathomable. Don’t get me wrong, I love racing to death. But maybe this says more about the players of this game than the providers. If you won’t stand up for yourself, why should anyone else sort of thing. The ADW disputes affected us; we can affect the industry as well. Maybe giving is just in the horseplayer’s nature. I just can’t believe the extent of disrespect has been tolerated this long. When you go to the casino you feel like a king, like the place was built for you (it was). If slot machines gave baby-powdered backhanded slaps to every play they wouldn’t be so popular.

They were advertising free TVG for 6 months for new subscribers today. That is a hard sell when every other ADW/Casino/three card monte game from here to East Jesus offers "free" wagering. I like TVG the network more than most but this $.25 cent per bet thing prevents me from using their wagering service.

Good one! I actually don't mind those guys too much.

I went to a casino here in Oklahoma with the family. All of the table games charged an "ante" to play. It was like 25 cents per bet, whether you bet $2 or $200 on a hand. I'll be the first to admit I'm not a big casino guy, but I will occasionally play black jack. With that rule in place though, I bet a grand total of $0 and just played in the race book a little.

TVG charges .25 for online bets? xpressbet does by phone. but one can make several bets for tracks and only get charged once.

thats terrible. now its 5.25 to play a hand of BJ? the house takes another % of already a house advantage. whats BJ pay in Okl. 6/5 or 2-1? and how does .25 work w/ craps?

A quarter ante on $5 blackjack makes a 28% tri seem like the biggest bargain in gambling.

I don't think they have craps.

FWIW I have played on TVG and Twinspires.
I have to say I like twinspires a lot more but I have no problem playing TVG for Los Alamitos. Not that hard to wager $2500 (FWIW) I cashed out there about a month ago, they sent me the w2 in the mail and I recieved money the very next day.
Not bad!

The interface is rather slow though.
