Rank early and no response...beaten pretty good. Maybe Frankel isn't having any second thoughts now that he sold this colt.
Midshipman is the one I am looking foward to seeing run in Dubia...wonder if Baffert will be rooting for him when his race comes up:) ....NOT!!!

One race is not a career.

Frankie on the winner was a dead giveaway that it was "out for exercise" for Vineyard Haven.

Can't believe the colt with the best numbers as a two-year-old was totally ignored in the Future Pool while his stablemate, Midshipman, who by all accounts is behind VH in his preparation, got hammered.

I sure didn't mean to imply that VH is done for...rank early & faded...guess I should have said that maybe VH needed this race...maybe they are trying to get him to relax...who knows...'they' sure aren't telling us much from over there...
if either VH or Midshipman makes it to the Derby, I expect to see Dettori aboard.

From DRF.com
Midshipman, last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner and champion 2-year-old, has been injured and will miss the Triple Crown, according to a statement Sunday on the website of his owner, Godolphin Racing (http://www.godolphin.com/newsArticle.aspx?id=4310).

The statement said Midshipman suffered a minor soft tissue injury in his left foreleg during routine training at the Al Quoz exercise facility in Dubai. He was preparing to make his 3-year-old debut at Nad Al Sheba on Thursday in the Al Bastikiya, a listed stakes.

When I saw that headline this morning...well, I was shocked and bummed...but I'd bet Baffert sighed relief...woulda been a bitch to get beat in the Derby with a horse he lost....but I was so looking forward to seeing Midshipman race over there...it's a damned shame, really...takes some of the fun out of it.
Hope the colt heals up and can come back...after all, he is our 2 yr old Champ...even if he lives in the desert now.

I wouldn't shed any tears for Baffert losing a horse. How many times has a big-name owner bought a winning horse and turned it over to Baffert to take all the credit? War Emblem was just one. I feel bad for the small trainers that lose the big horse (Helen Pitts with Curlin for one).

I don't think I said anything about shedding tears...and I usually do feel bad for the small time trainers that have a horse taken away by the owner and given to another trainer...and if memory serves me right...Baffert, and many trainers that get a horse before a big race, in one way or another, give credit to the other trainer that had the horse.

Joanied - I think slew101 meant figuratively, not literally.
