I'm starting to root for this country to go further in the tank. Sorry if this sounds cynical. This "stimulus" package is the biggest pile of sh*t I've ever seen in my life. I can't believe we are going to spend $800B and most of it is garbage. Don't call it a stimulus package if it isn't!
What happened to the going through the federal budget "line by line" promises from Obama? What happend to the culture change? Now all we get is BS that it takes time to change, etc, etc. If you want things to change, then lead by example and not pick people that don't represent change and can't even manage their money/taxes - how do we expect them to manage everyone else's? How is forcing this bill quickly and forcing the Republicans to agree an example of bipartisanship? For the record, I voted for him :faint:
I think we would have been better off doing nothing. The economy will pick up, this is a down cycle. A necessary one to get rid of the inefficiency. I get tired of all these companies that get rewarded for f**king up. I don't care how central they are to the country, let them die and a newer, better version will take its place. That's how capitalism is supposed to work. Yes, things will suck in the short term but people will build better companies to take their place.
I don't understand why everyone is so scared of the term "recession". Everything can't go up all the time, there are necessary market corrections. It's a recession not the black plague! You aren't going to die. If you would have managed your money correctly to begin with, the impact won't be as bad.
I'm tired of all the idiots in our government who don't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground. They all just snow job themselves, then snow job people and continue with their inefficient ways and playing to special interests. How many people in government really understand what the economic issues are? The majority of them are just going to vote party lines and hope the problem fixes itself.
When did we start listening to our radical enemies who said "Bush is evil"? They've said that about every one of our presidents. Newsflash: they will say that about all of our future presidents, they use that as a rallying point to recruit. I'm talking about the radical minority here, the majority of people around the world don't hate the US as much as some would think. I really don't care if we are perceived as less aggressive or not, I care about protecting our citizens.
I think a lot of our problems in this country stem from one thing: Greed. The mortgage market started out with certain qualifications to buy a house, some % down, good credit, etc. So all those people are now in the market. Well, that wasn't good enough, the companies need to make more money, so let's relax the standards and write more loans! I don't get why companies would rather have 10,000 loans of varying quality than 5,000 good ones.
