On Thursday:
My prime wager in the 5th, Squires Wingman, had the lead and weakend late settling for third. My soft wager in the 9th, Fire Chief was well backed but finished out of the money.
Among my contenders only selections:
My 2nd race $8 exacta key box returned $46.80.
My 6th race $6 saver exacta wager returned $69.20.
My 7th race $8 exacta key box returned $125.40.
The best thing that happened yesterday was putting readers off the heavy favorites in both the 2nd and the 3rd. It's a great feeling when you're avoiding heavy favorites with conviction. So it goes...
Friday’s Selections:
1st - Contenders Only – Speed has been holding up at the route and Why Because (7) will be at or near the lead early. Nan’s Star (4) is a serious contender. She put up decent figs on the grass, takes the huge drop, and the Cibelli/LA Gonzalez team are 13-25 ITM this season. Exacta Box 4,7, and Trifectas 4,7/1,2,3,5,6/,4,7
2nd – Contenders Only – Pompano Beach Rose (8) races forwardly, was above par in last and shortens up today. Centeno has the return call for Jamie Ness. Multicard (3) Ziadie is 58% ITM with L1-3 + types and the Ziadie/Cardoso team is 7-10 ITM this season. Drop to $4000 in last doesn’t build confidence though. Timetolitethestar (5) was above par in last two at the route and showed dramatic improvement going Sprint-to-Route in December. Exacta Box 5,8 and Trifectas 3,5,8/2,3,7/3,5,8
3rd – Contenders Only – Hello Miss Lady (5) is usually close to the action at the 2nd Call and this is yet another route, where E/P’s have been winning everything. Was above par in last two on the grass. Had to wait for racing room inside in the stretch before finishing well in last. Exacta Key Box 5/1,2,4,6
4th – Contenders Only – Queen Maddie (6) was gaining late, and finished 2nd, with an above par effort at 6F in first start of her five year career at this $8000 level. Is 19-30 ITM lifetime. The Allen’s will be trying again. Exacta Box 6/1,2,4,9
5th – Contenders Only – Exacta Box 3,5,8 and Saver Straight Exactas 3,5,8/7 and Trifectas 3,5,8/2,9/3,5,7,8
6th – Contenders Only – Exacta 7/2 and Trifectas 7/5,6/2,5,6
7th – Contenders Only – Exacta Box 1,3,5 and Trifectas 3,5/4,8,9,12,13/1,9
8th – Contenders Only – Exacta Box 4,7 and Trifectas 4,7/2,8/2,4,7,8

10th – Contenders Only – Whip the Groom (8). My figs have Whip the Groom as the most consistent of the bunch. Expect improvement in second try in N2L at the $8000 level. Exacta Key Box 8/1,6 and Trifectas 8/All/1,6
