It seems that even in Washington DC, at the height of Obama-mania, you still can't get liberal talk radio to work. OBAMA 1260, showing non-existent ratings is under-going a format change to financial news, while conservative stations continue to thrive.

"President Obama may be riding high in Washington, but OBAMA 1260 is not.
The area's only progressive talk station is changing formats, dropping such syndicated liberal hosts as Ed Schultz, Stephanie Miller and Bill Press in favor of financial news, starting next week.

The move by Redskins owner Dan Snyder, who purchased the station, WWRC, and others in Washington last summer, leaves the city without a liberal radio outlet. Program Director Greg Tantum says he thought the station could work because of enthusiasm over Obama, but that ratings collapsed to a level that could not be measured after the election.

But ratings nearly doubled, he says, at Snyder's conservative station, WTNT, which features Laura Ingraham and Bill Bennett. Tantum said he will move Schultz to WTNT to give him another shot."

all the libs are out working, the so called cons are sitting in their moms basement making tin foil gliders or checking out porn sites in between snorts.

the cons never get bored hearing the same old routine over and over and over.
they love to play the victims, radio talk shows excel at that pap.

the audience demo for these con shows seems to be skewed to the older crowd, guess the rise in alzhemiers and the audience for these are related rather closely.


Given the moral decline that many cons decry , how would they be sanguine about even having a popular radio show.

Maybe the fact the libs can't get a show going with an audience is a good thing.

my theory is that in order to enjoy listening to issues being discussing on the radio, it requires an extended period of rational thought. So therefore it never goes over very well with liberals.

Nope. It's exceedingly more likely that brain-dead, robotic, brainwashed, politically-illiterate libs have no need to listen to their own drivel. Their brains have already been hard-wired.

I think the truth is that the conservative talk radio show hosts are usually outspoken, angry, jaded, and in general, more entertaining show hosts.

I truly don't think content is as important as the entertainers bringing it to you. There is a reason O'reilly is successful, he's entertaining.

I know as someone who is kind of in the middle, on the occasions i listen to political talk radio, i listen to conservative radio, cause its generally more entertaining. I do try and picture the conservative listeners just sitting there and nodding their heads and agreeing with everything said, while i sit there and disagree with them half the time.

Conservative radio is more entertaining than liberal radio, thats why i think the ratings are better.

If you want to hear a funny, intelligent and witty conservative, listen Tuesday and Wednesday to Rush. Rush is off this week and filling in on those days is Mark Steyn. He's the best if you ask me, not necessarily as a great talk show host, but he is just so inciteful and funny, and usually right on the money with his observations.

Wait a darn minute there ... this last one would seem to argue for greater lib suckcess in the talk show area as we know that according to the con shows the COUNTRY in the main IS intellectually impoverished.

you are missing a huge part of why the audience is so much more vast.

The left can turn on every news channel in America, except maybe one, and hear their version of the world anytime they want. I mean of course television news.

The Left leaning programming is on display in the mornings and with advent of afternoon talk and the overt nature in which they have turned to the left (Oprah, Ellen etc) and with the Soap Opera's going the way of the Dinosaur, this leads right into Prime Time where Republican's and Conservatives are treated like punching bags. Toss in the Comedy Channel where it has really turned into the "Left Leaning Comedy Channel" and you get a Left Leaning media from morning to night.

If you are a night owl like me, you can get a few hours entertainment out of the Adult Swim late night shows on the Cartoon Network. The most popular show on that lineup is Family Guy, who repeatedly goes after Repubs and even recently called Sarah Palin and John McCain Nazi's , all in the name of good fun. They also recently did a bit referring to how Laura Bush was involved in a car accident when she was a teenager. They repeatedly used the phrase "Laura Bush killed a guy" Remember, these are Re-runs of Sunday night prime Time Family Guy episodes. These episodes have already been run to a large viewing audience. Now they are repeatedly run to a demographic that skews young male. This same show is run on TBS and other syndicated stations as many as 4 times a day.
We don't hear them scorching the Left in the same manner. Ever.

As a side note. Seth MacFarlane is a huge Democratic Supporter. He is aligned with the party of the "working class American" yet he outsources all of his shows animation to Korea.......like many other Cartoons. There is a word for that............hmmm...........

I digress, the bottom line is the Conservative radio listener is also the Conservative Tv Watcher and finds refuge in radio. This void of Conservative discussion was filled by the likes of Rush Limbaugh early on and upon the realization that the market actually existed, radio types realized there were 21 more hours in the day........... This is why Conservative radio thrives and Liberal radio is a pimple on the ass of the great broadcast airwaves. They already own the bully pulpit of Television.

I could get into the numbers about how Conservatives are actually working every day and can only listen to radio and not view Television as many hours a day......... but most of that is conjecture.......with no real statistical data. That I have found anyway............
