On Sunday, my soft wager in the 7th, Islandia, won with a rush and paid $4.40. Among my contenders only selections, my 2nd race $12 exacta box returned $27.20, my 3rd race $12 trifecta bet returned $155.60, my 6th race $4 exacta box returned $6. So it goes...
Tuesday’s Selections:
1st – Contenders Only – Zagomor (3) and Stag Runner (7) have shown early speed at 6F and 7F respectively. Patrick has gone to Macias to ride both of his winners this season. Speculator (10) has best figs has comes back fast for Criollo with HVG up. Exacta Box 3,7,10 and Trifectas 1,6,8/3,7,10/3,7,10
2nd – Contenders Only – Abercrombieandfish had an above par fig in last and shortens up today. Shane/Montalvo team are 6-6 ITM this season. Dixieland Drummer (5) usually races at or above par. Takes a drop after 7F tightener on 1/10. Exacta Box 4,5 and Trifectas 4,5/1,6,9,10/4,5
3rd – Contenders Only – Silver Label (2) ML 30-1. Throw out first race because he needed an attitude adjustment that day. Next start, broke fast and raced forwardly early at 8.5F. Goes 6F today, where he won with an above par 75 (today’s par is 72) on Oct. 5th at MNR. Pittman has good success with Route-to-Sprints and Fastbacks. Glorious Sunrise (8) ML 20-1. Bramante’s jockey switch from Djuric to Ronnie Allen Jr. signals a change of intent. Exacta Box 2,8/3,5,6
4th – Contenders Only – Exacta Key 12/1,7,9,11 and Trifectas 12/All/11
5th – Contenders Only – Sunsational (1) usually above par and above par in last, Sunsational stretches out 210 feet for Chris Gatis and looks for another win. Five Card Monty (6). Charles Fontana employs one of the CRC leading jockeys, Wesley Henry Sr. looking for Five Card Monty’s third win in four races this afternoon. Wesley won on a William P White entry last week at Tampa. This one appears seriously meant as well. Last Samurai (8) posted a well above par effort while mildly rallying at 7F, first time over on 1/18. Team Feliciano figures to grab a piece of it this afternoon. Exacta Box 1,6,8 and Trifectas 1,6,8/3,5/1,3,5,6,8
6th – Contenders Only – Golden Citizen EK (8) finally won after being well backed in all three starts. I don’t like to go on a solitary performance, but the bullet work on 1/28 was three clicks above par for bullets at 3F (36.2). Dale Bennett wins 35% and ITM 70% rightback. Exacta Key 8/7,9 and Trifectas 8/3,6,7,9/3,6,7,9
7th – Contenders Only – Exacta Box 3,4,6 and Trifectas 1,2,5,8/3,4/3,4,6
8th – Contenders Only – Exacta Box 4,8,10 and Trifectas 4,8,10/5,9/4,8,10
9th – Contenders Only – Somes Sound (4) averaged better than 12.30 every furlong of the way in last at 9F. Shortens up today for White/Wesley team that produced a winner here last week. Never Absent (9) averaged 12.30 in last 3F of last, a win at Tampa, also shortens up today. Exacta Box 4,9,13,14 and Trifectas 1,2,3/4,9/4,9,13,14
