JOE KELLEY'S AQUEDUCT PLAYS OF THE DAY February 1st, 2009

Nice card to whet your appetite before Superbowl Sunday. Been focusing more on getting value and not necessarily picking winners all the time. Big round of applause for another handicapping guru: Barry Meadows who laid that credo on the line for us.

**** In races that we like, we have set an betting odds line. If a horse's odds are higher than our line, it justifies a win bet for you. Remember don't settle for underlays even if you think a horse is a lock to win. *****

RACE 1: 20 K claiming sprint and there are two burners in here: # 1 INDY'S FORUM and # 2 CLEVERLY LEGAL. They may go neck and neck for awhile. Speed has been playing well and outside posts have been promising on the 6F distance. Our contenders:

# 3 SHE'S ACHANCE had the best turn time of this bunch last out. Tony D. wins 22% third time off layoff. Only question will this mare succeed second time on the inner oval. (3/1)

# 8 WAYTOTHELEFT loves the track and the distance. Always gives an honest effort. The outside post should help if the bias continues. (3/1)

# 1 INDY'S FORUM should be the best of the early pace setters. Randi Persaud wins 30% off the claim. Big question is this filly's ability to win back to back as past tries have not gone well. (7/1)
_____________

RACE 2: If the # 2 SENOR ENRICO goes off as favorite, we have false favorite city. 0 for 7 lifetime on a fast track and 2 for 29 lifetime. So, let's look elsewhere.

# 5 OLE RUGGED CROSS loves the distance. Only question is adapting to Big A and if the colt is not tailing off in his cycle. (4/1)

# 1A MR. SERIOUS showed career best early speed last out and gets a huge rider change to Chuck Lopez. Contessa nabs em at 21% off the claim. (4/1)

# 7 DANEMEI is an inner track fiend. Only 7 races thus far even though he is 5 year old. So, there have been some fitness issues. But if he is on, he is a serious contender. ( 5/1)

# 6 EXPRESS TO THE WEST won last out and is a closer. (10/1)

The two up from Florida in the first appear interesting. Flankers Lady hasn't run since August when she was trained by Kathleen O'Connell, chased a pretty fast pace that day and the winner appears to have run around a 101. Gets blinkers first time for Duggan who is 33% first time in his barn. Currently at 4/1. Big Shadow should have some pace to run after and Jacobson is 20% first time claim. 1 for 1 at the distance for this mare who has been in good form at the Calder quick sand. Big Shadow currently at 9/1.

watch the jockey roam for a mount , then ask him who he will get on to win .
