10. Einstein (http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/thoroughbred/einstein-brz/2002/) (BRZ), 122, Julien R. Leparoux

It's always nice to see the older handicap division going two turns on dirt. I think there are only a handful of these Grade 1 races all year now; the Donn, Foster, Pimlico Special, Whitney and Woodward.

Interesting and fairly full field.

Looks like only one from last year's bunch of three-year-old bums is ready to contest this renewal. It's still early, but Big Brown supporters who wished his competition would develop into something are still wishing.

Is the Jockey Club Gold Cup considered two turns? I believe they start in the middle of the turn.

Fineallymadeit is running back from a race on jan 24th on the sunshine millions card vs fl and cal breds. He drew the rail again and Einstein drew the 10 post which is near death at 1 1/8 at gulf, gotta use him some to get position out of the gate. Dutrow quoted as saying Arson Squad is doing very well training . Anyone want to project a number for him ?

I'm liking Maximus as well. His win in the BC Mile was impressive and I don't think the surface switch will hurt him. Einstein I'll put second.

Well finally I did something right, My number 2 horse shall not be forgotten,

Nice Exacta, the tri was not bad either, and the super, see what happens when you are just paper playing you hit all the big ones, just right... 5 horses and the top 4 are all there, NICE NON HIT, Till the next big race, good luck

I am wondering...if Arson Squad had won the Donn...would we be reading posts again about Dutrow juicing???
Food for thought???

This was a poor Grade 1. Finallymadeit couldn't even hit the board as lone speed in a restricted stake and he nearly won the race. I don't even know if this edition was Grade 2 worthy.

Then you see a recent Mdn grad win the Holy Bull and you have to think Gulfstream isn't having their best year for stakes quality.

Wasn't Arson Squad's "first time Dutrow" race a stakes race at the Meadowlands which he was completely dismissed in the wagering (myself included) and won going away? I believe it was attributed at the time to getting him back on dirt.

Unless I look it up....I don't know about that...but I was really just trying to make a point.

I guess as a counterpoint ....

If Kip Deville had been able to finish better than 9th in the Hong Kong Mile ... wouldn't his name be thrown around with Diamond Stripes and Benny The Bull as Dutrow horses who left the country and achieved something?

on topic, this years Donn Handicap was an absolute eyesore. The race could have been timed with a sundial ... and you had 3 horses who were eased.
