This story is about the town where the Casino was going to be built. It was voted down. Many of these people were hoping to work in the Casino in some fashion. This closing effects 63 of the 88 Ohio Counties according to one study. Spend a few minutes watching......

many state/towns have found out that the "easy" casino money is not so easy after all.

I see many with layoffs being announced/projects stopped.

I suspect it is a good thing to not have them around every corner, but I would not enforce that view if others think it's the path to riches.

The country is based on out and out gambling - quick buck and ponzi scheme economics so go for it have fun.

Reminds about the story about how they came to why the state penitentary is in Mcallister. Supposedly they had a coin flip between Stillwater and Mcallister with the winner getting to choose tpo have either the state pen or Oklahoma State University. Turns out Stillwater lost the flip and wound up stuck with OSU.

I can't see with this crippled economy where building a casino would be very profitable .

Casino business is hurting bad. My mom owns a couple of them in washington and our drops are down on a nightly basis, both poker and table games. Where we've seen the biggest decline is at our Credit Card machines. Many gamblers who were playing on unlimited credit a few years ago are either busted or arent getting the credit from the credit card companies anymore. Also so many people for years had cash because of home equity loans and or lines of credit, and its tougher now (as it should be) to get credit right now.
