on PBS, as announced on tonight's (Monday) programming.

Obviously the increased attention to Seabiscuit comes from the wonderful book that Laura Hillenbrand wrote. This book became a #1 New York Times Bestseller. If you haven't read it--go buy it. It moved me greatly.

What is more amazing than her uncovering so much detail about Seabiscuit's many races during the depression era is the "Reader's Guide" at the end which detailed the effort she made to research the book's material. When you realize that she was close to death several times while writing the book due to a mysterious ailment that doctor's couldn't initially identify, it makes the work so much more special.

In my mind it is a book every serious horseplayer would benefit to read. I'm looking forward to the movie--I hope they do the book and the true story of this very special racehorse justice.
