Values have shrunken to fantastic levels; taxes have risen; our ability to pay has fallen; government of all kinds is faced by serious curtailment of income; the means of exchange are frozen in the currents of trade; the withered leaves of industrial enterprise lie on every side; the savings of many years in thousands of families are gone.

Primarily this is because the rulers of the exchange of mankind's goods have failed, through their own stubbornness and their own incompetence, have admitted their failure, and abdicated. Practices of the unscrupulous money changers stand indicted in the court of public opinion, rejected by the hearts and minds of men.

Faced by failure of credit they have proposed only the lending of more money. Stripped of the lure of profit by which to induce our people to follow their false leadership, they have resorted to exhortations, pleading tearfully for restored confidence. They know only the rules of a generation of self-seekers. They have no vision, and when there is no vision the people perish.

Sound familiar ??

One of the more asinine comments he made had something to do with "fairness" and "growth". He tried to marry these two concepts as though they were compatible with one another when instead they're mutually exclusive. If I had the time, I would find the comments and demonstrate the big disconnect -- the incongruity. But leave it to BO -- this supposed brainiac to make such a stupid comment. Totally out of touch with the real world and how capitalism works.

The quote was from FDR at his inauguration in 1933.
Nothing quite changes does it ??

My favorite quote came in the bumbled oath . . .

"I will execute . . ."

And then he just waits . . .

By the way, everyone should read Dick Morris's column at TheHill.com, I am not interested in arguing with liberals, but I hope that everyone would try and TEACH THEM the error of their ways.
LESSON #1- A government big enough to give you everything is big enough to take everything you have.
Price increases will be out of the question, so the government will impose healthcare rationing, denying the older and sicker among us the care they need and even barring them from paying for it themselves. (Rationing based on income and price will be seen as immoral.)

No you're not !!

1st term 1933 and 3 more after that!!! Considering the a----les after that with the exception of RR thank GOD for term limits.

Just a thought - go back and read the inaugural speeches from the presidents since and including FDR; the speeches are remarkably the same- what the world is suffering as well as the plight of the USA and all sound alike.

One last thought do a google search of all the presidents speeches at their inaug... and the consistency of every speech is remarkably the same as per the times-
