couple of potential legit graded stakes horses face off here
Square Eddie and Brother Keith. Eddie may be more of a router and BK may be more of a power sprinter, but we'll meet somewhat of a comprimise at a short route mile.

Field also includes an interesting G2 juvenile turf horse from Shirreffs barn , and a few athletic horses who have flashed talent.

I'm very interested to see how The Pamplemousse looks tomorrow. Alot of hype stirring around on this guy.

Pretty good looking colt. Looks like he could go to turf sprints as well, the way that he moves, but there is a lot of money for a maintrack stakes 3yo. Kafwain isn't generally a distance sire but The Pamplemousse was very game breaking maiden at 8.5furlongs , and he is actually cutting back in distance for the San Rafael.

The Pamplemousse? He'll probably have fluffy hair.
That's all I got.
Except for Square Eddie by how many?

Okay, The Pamplemousse- big, gorgeous gray! - wires it. Square Eddie catching up there at the end? Kafwain better shorter, Pamplemousse's dam won two races - is this where the distance is coming from? He ends up with a dosage index of 1.67, which shows stamina.

At least four grays now hot on the trail- Old Fashioned, Silver City, Vineyard's Haven and The Pamplemousse.

nice win for The Pamplemousse. There is a fancy San Diego restaurant of the same name. On my bucket list :D

Dissapointed that Brother Keith had that weird run - he broke like he was going to take the lead and then was pulled up hard as if he had gone wrong - and then he continued to be ridden and whipped late in the race to get 4th. Doesn't appear to be the potential stakes horse I had hoped.

Square Eddie looked great, and this race over this track was just too short for him.

The Shirreffs import also looked great physically.

I saw The Pamplemousse coming off the track at Santa Anita this morning (1-22-09) following a gallop, and he looked super.

Here's a photo of him and Alex Solis after a work on 1-14-09:
