It looks like the folks who run the printing presses at the Treasury will be running up some overtime. (Gold has never looked so good!) According to prez-elect BO, if we don't act NOW, it could be too late to change course. In other words -- we have an urgent crisis on our hands that demands immediate attention. And shame all over us, if we wait a minute longer than necessary to make the boo boos go away.

I'm already starting to lose count of all these crises these past few months. We have, thus far, the Fanny and Freddie crisis, the banking crisis, the credit card crisis, the automakers' crisis, and now the recession crisis. And this is just the beginning. You can take this prediction to the bank.

Obama warns of dire consequences without stimulus

WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama said Thursday that the nation's recession could "linger for years" unless Congress acts to pump unprecedented sums from Washington into the U.S. economy, making his highest-profile case yet on an issue certain to define his early presidency.

"I don't believe it's too late to change course, but it will be if we don't take dramatic action as soon as possible," Obama said in a speech set to be delivered at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., outside Washington. Excerpts from his prepared text were released in advance by his transition team.

"A bad situation could become dramatically worse," he added, painting a dire picture — including double-digit unemployment and $1 trillion in lost economic activity — that recalled the days of the Great Depression in the 1930s.

Many a true word spoken in jest...if indeed you were joking.

It's ironic you say this, though, because a radio talk show host (I think it was Mark Levin) recently predicted that the Libs would try to "constitutionalize" socialism in this country via the 14th Amendment -- probably through supreme court activism, after BO stacks the court with a liberal majority.

Was not joking- what a way to funnel money to those who pay no state or local income tax. At least under the last welfare er-stimulus check it only went to taxpayers or SS recipients; this baby goes to everybody.

Imagine that you are already getting sec 8 housing, food stamps, free health care and a govmint check each and every month and this month you will get an extra govmint check- of course you will have to split it with the baby's daddy.

Well, on the other hand , just imagine if as you guys seem to think should happen , all those programs listed were shutdown?

What do you think would then happen?

If you want to spend a minute or two on a related subject, read this link, you will then see or at least have a chance to see how deep is the hole and how deep is the rot of the "system" and why with out large scale reforms , it just isn't going to matter who is elected or who gets the next welfare check.

As someone who has been in and around this stuff since the 1970s none of this is a surprise but the avg joe , who never needed or cared to know is just clueless of the real problems due to the idiots of the MSM and what passes for "fair and balanced reporting".

I also question that many of the dopes turned out by the US public schools in the last 20 30 years have the ability or the desire to comprehend.
I still can't believe it when I pay with cash and the kid at the counter needs a calculator to make change.

A bad situation indeed.

How many of you even knew there WAS an FHLB?
How many of you had any idea what or why it was setup and what it does?

Case closed.

A little snip from their write-up:

The changes to the emergency liquidity provisions of the FRA via FDICIA, a law that actually promised to limit bailouts for large, insolvent banks and thereby protect the taxpayer, began the duplicity in Washington that continues to this day. Just as Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson falsely sold the Congress on the TARP program based upon asset purchases and the hope of foreclosure relief to home owners, FDICIA was sold as regulatory reform to protect the taxpayer from big bank bailouts. But, in fact, the political interests representing some of the leading Sell Side institutions on Wall Street used FDICIA to pave the way for the largest public bailout of private companies in modern human history

If they were shut down, people would have to find ways to take care of themselves.

Gee, we wouldn't want that to happen, now would we?

sorry , it aint that easy.
The "taking care of themselves" would not be something you would want to see.

Millions of starving gun-toting "others" roaming the streets of your fair city would not be a good thing for your economic or real life.

When a country has gone as far down hill as we have and has made promises to whole generations of people , well let's just say you don't want to see that suddenly stopped.

Without a radical reform in the policies of this gvt both at the fed and state level then it's impractical to expect people to advance their interests in a rotted thoroughly gamed/tainted system.

Also, this trillion dollar stimilus program bama and his banker buddies are wanting to throw out should NEVER be done until the purging of almost all of the scum in DC that have over the last 20 years or so participated in this rotten system that they are now trying to bail out.

There is no use throwing even the small amount of money they are talking about at this trash as without major reform(which can't happen i suspect) it will only give you a short term pulse and then you will be left with more debt to service.

I believe that is where Osama's suggested new "American Civilian Army" (Blackwater) comes into play, along with all those already built Concentration Camps ....

All according to the Kingmakers Grand Plan......A change of our constitution and our old way of life.....

Lambo - good luck on your personal tarp plan!

Never doubt that bama is bought and controlled even to a greater extent by the banks and other assorted scum of the wall street insiders than Busy ever was.

Some of the stuff that he is proposing including the tax loss stuff , if passed will be the biggest give away to failed and bankrupt firms and the people who ran them into the ground that this world has ever seen.

if will be titanic in nature.

The 3K per job saved or created business tax credit is just as goofy.

This guy , along with the other congress scum and their "advisors" are about to bring on the largest waste of money in recorded history if not stopped.

Someone needs to drop the big one on DC now or it's over for us out here.

Hey we might have to try socialism - the phony capitalism that we practice in the US of A ain't working out too well, except for a select few!

Maybe we can get Merkle or Sharko to come over from Europe and show us how its done. Might as well get some people with experience this time.

FWIW- for years I have been telling friend and foe alike that we will reap the "benefits" of the morons being turned out or neglected by our public institutions. These "schools" are located in enviroments where there is little regard for education and indeed this lack of regard has manifested itself in the many problems we encounter on a daily basis;

*lack of respect-public profanity
*failure to act responsibly- single parent homes
*self sufficiency-reliance on the system
*violence-overpopulated prisons
*drug abuse
*child abuse
*STD's
*homelessness

And remember those who began this downward cycle are the ones now procreating; and the cycle spirals downward.
We are in deep deep shit here friends and no amount of $$$ is going to bail us out.

Prepare for the worst - hope for the best, and stay well armed. Even the Police departments in major American cities are deteriorating due to the socio-economic conditions in our cities. Do not expect them to protect you in time of crises.

You just accurately analyzed the extent of the moral decay in this nation. It isn't very pretty, is it? And as you've correctly summed up, this is a problem that money cannot fix! Oh, yes -- the megabytes of irony here will be that our corrupt politicians will try to fix it with money because they stupidly think money is the answer to everything. (If this were true, we'd have the best educated kids on the planet, wouldn't we?). What we'll witness, through various government-sponsored or even mandated social programs, are morally depraved politicians attempting to help the equally depraved populace.

God help us all!

We have diluted our nation with a species of semi-humans. They do not have the brains, work ethic, morals, or integrity to be citizens. They supported democrats. They WANT a socialist nation, a free lunch. The dems see them only as votes, not as citizens. Dems WANT dependency.

We are now at the point where BO is the Dark Lord ( of the Rings) and the schools are turning out Orcs. Armies of Orcs.

reagan and clinton were good as far as conveying hope for the future. all i have ever heard from bush and obama is how bad things are. they are only telling you how bad things are going to get so in case things get a little better they will take the credit for it.

needless to say the moral fiber of this country is a trainwreck started by bush and will be continued with the new president. i have to say the quality of the leaders have gone way down hill. they have figured out to win elections at any cost. whatever they say changes once they are elected.

gold has been around for 5000 years now and probably will be here for about another 5000 years.

as far as gold mining stocks go, the best 3 in my opinion are AEM--agnico eagle mines....GOLD--randgold resources... RGLD--royal gold.

if you are interested in a junior mining stock with alot of gamble in it i would say TRE--tanzanian royalty and GBG--great basin gold.

all these stocks have huge spikes upwards and downwards, so if you are buying them make sure you have good entry and exit points, otherwise they can take you deep and give you headaches.

i was predicting gold to reach $1200 and ounce by the end of 2008, flat out i was wrong. more than likely it will go to $1400 in 2009.

And to think our Mad Scientists are happily trying to Clone Ourselves.....Haha.....

We have simply taken God out of the equation, and yet we go on and on rationalizing every little thing and person in the hopes that we can figure this all out......

True Christians, the ones who understand God's Word, are not the culprits in this messed up nation and planet.....I don't mean the one's who play at God and Church things, but the ones who live the reality of the Word of God, these are the ones who should be in charge of things.....That is why Jesus is coming back one more time, to end this madness once and for all....And it is all predicted in the Bible, it is the last prediction to come true, as all of the other prophecies have already come to pass....If you were truly in the Word of God, you would know this.....

There is great hope in this, and not in the hopes that somehow man will overcome all of this on his own....haha.....Dream on.

At least your half right: It will be continued by BO. But this wreck started way, way before Bush -- before he was even born! It started way back in the '20s when Marxist-oriented policies were made law, e.g. the income tax, social security, welfare, etc.

as far as i know, it wasn't that great when reagan took over, or when clinton took over, both of them followed out and out clueless leaders. neither one of them had a negative attitude even though they knew that had a tough task ahead of them. both of those guys relayed hope when things were at their dimest hours. both made you feel proud to be an american.
bush and obama just lie to you and insult your inteligence as they raid your retirement funds and your pockets.
