I'm still left with the impression that the trainers and owners want a welfare system. Once they get what they feel they deserve then maybe they'll discuss issues effecting the other participants. IWO, give us the money then we'll talk about drugs, establishing a national standard for the rules, adapting newer technologies, etc.

in quasi fairness to him, I believe he is primarily concerned with what tracks charge each other. Or at least I assume so, based on his focus. I would tend to agree with him that source market fees for both ADW, and more of the keep of on track betting on other tracks should go to the host.

The tracks already freely negotiate their ADW rates, so it's a somewhat moot issue, although the numbers he throws around are not, and are not realistic for ADW, and would be a tremendous step backwards. There is no excuse for him not recognizing why this a distinction worth noting.

Five years ago today, I launched the 13-month Magna boycott. It's clear to me that nobody has learned anything since then. Today it's all talk and no listening. At least some horseplayers are becoming price sensitive and there's even some awareness about the industry's push to replace us with slot and alternate gaming money.

Two more weeks here in Tampa and then you will play hell finding my money at any racing venue this year aside from brief visits to Keeneland and Saratoga for old times sake.
